Betty "June" June Simmons

of Conway, AR

March 10, 1940 - October 25, 2023

Betty June Simmons, born Betty June Call, 83, passed away on October 25th, 2023. Nicknamed "June Bug" and known to her family as Mamaw, June was born on March 10th, 1940.

Her parents raised her with her eight brothers and sisters in Saltville, Virginia on a 40-acre farm in a house built by her father.

Her passion for crafting started as a child when she cut out paper dolls from magazines to play with. Throughout her adulthood, she worked with handcrafts, sewing, quilting and dollmaking and sold her work at craft fairs. She also loved painting and had a fondness for Bob Ross videos.

Much of her life revolved around her family. When she was 16 years old, she met Bill Simmons and she knew the moment she saw him that he was the man she would marry. Married shortly after in December 1956, they spent 67 loving years together, during which they had three children, Jim, Lorna Jean and Sherry. She supported her family through all of life?s ups and downs, growing alongside them. June was thrilled to become a grandmother and later a great-grandmother, playing a large role in raising each of them. With a passion for casino trips and card playing, she taught her great-grandson everything she knew about poker and bluffing.

She spent her golden years in a house nestled on the edge of Conway, where she had a garden to tend to and a revolving door of family visiting her, often hosting family game nights.

June Simmons is survived by her husband, Bill Simmons of Conway, Arkansas; her three children, Jim Simmons of Jasper, Indiana; Jean Simmons of Conway, Arkansas; Sherry Allen of Etoile, Texas; her granddaughter, Ambre Lunsford of Perryville, Arkansas and her great-grandson, Vaniel Simmons of Memphis, Tennessee.
