Dr. Charles C. Schock of Conway, AR went peacefully to his heavenly home on October 20, 2023. Charles was born in San Bernardino, CA on August 5, 1936.

His parents soon relocated back to Detroit, MI after a short time there. He spent his childhood in Detroit graduating from Denby High School, then attended Yale University in New Haven, CT. He went on to Medical School at Case Western Reserve and became a Physician specializing in Orthopeadics. Charles practiced at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit for several years before relocating to Little Rock, AR for the last forty-three years of his life. He eventually opened his own Practice, Arkansas Back Clinic.

Charles then retired to Conway, AR in his later years. He had a great passion for Classical music and was an accomplished pianist. He was a great admirer of Johann Bach and that passion led him to create the Arkansas Bach chorus. He Directed over thirty Bach Cantatas in Little Rock during the 90's. Charles loved singing and playing piano, as well as his beloved Cello. He was an outdoor person and was fond of fishing and duck hunting. He was always amazed at the planets and stars and had a large telescope to study and admire them.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Herb and his brother, Norville. He is survived by his children, Lisa, Carl, Maria, Lara, Paul, Ethan, Anne, Johanna, Melissa and their families, including twenty-four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held October 31, 2023 at Peace Lutheran Church in Conway where he was a member. Pastor Tom Boeck will be officiating. The service will begin at 4pm with a fellowship reception to follow.

I sang with him for many years in The Detroit Lutheran Singers, at church also. He and my late husband, George Beverst, were good friends. He bought our 6’ Steinway when we moved. He will be missed!

I enjoyed knowing Chuck. He could always coax the best performances from the people he was leading. I will always have fond memories of Bach Chorus. Glory to God and He surely welcomes Chuck.
