of Guy, AR
December 27, 1932 - October 20, 2023
Erma Faye Hall Hooten passed away on October 20, 2023. Faye lived on this earth 90 years, 9 months and 23 days and now rests comfortably in the arms of God. Faye was born in Damascus, Arkansas on December 27, 1932. Early in her life, her family moved into the Guy community where she lived until she graduated from high school. Faye married and started a family with Clark Hooten. Their marriage was blessed many times as Faye gave birth to 13 children. Faye labored continually, providing for her husband and children by making home more than just a place. Once her children were older, Faye worked outside of the home in various roles. She retired as an Elementary School lunch baker; again, caring for children. She loved to cook desserts and her homemade rolls were a family favorite. Faye loved to sew and made many clothes, crafts and Raggedy Ann dolls for her grandkids. Faye served our God faithfully as a Preacher's wife, Elder's wife and as a Christian. All her children found great success in life from the example she set as a devoted wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and most of all mother.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Clark E Hooten; parents, Daniel Elmer and Verlie Presley Hall; her brothers, J.D., Glenn and Doyce Hall; her sisters, Valdaree Hall Davis and Robbie Zell Hall Hazel and one grandson, Sammy Gilbert.
She is survived by one sister, Carolyn (Tommy) Winberry and thirteen children: Carol (Alan Gilbert) Hooten of Minneapolis, MN, Chrys (Glen) Boyd of Sugarland, TX, Timothy (Mary Jo) Hooten of Quitman, AR, Sheila Hooten of Canyon Lake, TX, Reggie (Barb) Hooten of Fargo ND, Gwen (John) Slater of Watkins, CO, Terra (Dr. George) Fidone of Lufkin, TX, Greg (Gwen) Hooten of Guy, AR, Regina (Keivan) Keshvari of Austin, TX, Terry (Amy) Hooten of Plant City, FL, Melisa (Tri) Le of New Braunfels TX, Nick Hooten of League City, TX, Chandra Hooten of Canyon Lake, TX, thirty-two grandchildren, many more great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Gwen Allison for the loving care she gave to Faye in her final years.

My earliest memories of my Aunt Faye are that she would send me birthday cards and sometimes they had money in them! That was exciting for me as a child because I rarely received mail from anyone before that. It must have been difficult to remember a young niece’s birthday when you have a house full of children to keep you busy. But I kept receiving birthday cards until I was a little older. And I remember what a good cook she was. It was later in life that I learned from my mother about her love for dolls. That was a love that she and my mother shared somewhat. I’ll miss you, Aunt Faye! I know you’re able to breathe better and have no pain now! Oh, the sights you must be seeing while next to Uncle Clark!! Say hello to Jesus for us! We will see you again soon!!
I never knew or had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful lady, but if she was anything like her sister Carolyn, she must have been something special. I have known Carolyn since 1976 or so and she is one of a kind. My sincere blessings to this family during this grieving time.
??????
So sorry to hear this, My heart goes out to all these children, also my love to Carolyn .
Ms Faye was a great loving lady. Always enjoyed being around all them., I do remember when they came to our house they set in the floor around the room and listen, they mind their parents, you didn’t see them up making noice or acting out., they were the best manner children I have ever seen., Faye and Clark did well raising this many for all them to turn out so educated. They all have made their mom & dad proud.,
I can say one thing for Ms Faye and Clark, is Job well done., I know Ms Faye will be miss by her children ., but she’s with Clark now, and happy.,
Love all of you cousins.,
Faye was a sweet, caring, and special Christian lady. I am so thankful to have known her. May God richly bless this wonderful family. ????
Condolensces to the family.
Dear, dear Faye...such sweet memories of you when I was young & your family lived just down the road & our families went to church together at 44th & Potter C of C in Little Rock. I remember babysitting for the Hooten children (only 5 then, I think). You taught me to make powdered sugar icing for cookies. Clark was like a son to my dad. I am thankful for your life, your Christian example, the legacy you leave. I know you will be deeply missed. Much love to all the family.
Praying for the family of Ms Faye, who was a precious and hard working woman who raised 13 smart and educated children. When I was 17 years old, I visited their home in Minnesota. I’m the same age as the second oldest, Chrys (Ellen as I call her), I have never seen such a more organized family I my life. The boys helped outside with the farm chores and the girls helped their mom with the cooking and taking care of the babies. I will never forget such a fun vacation.
Praying for all of you. Love you
