Daryl Leman Vandiver, 83, formally of Mortons Gap, Kentucky, went home to his loving Lord on October 19, 2023 in Bryant, Arkansas. Daryl was born in Mortons Gap, Kentucky to Elbert and Marie Vandiver on June 19, 1940. He graduated from South Hopkins High School in 1959. Daryl married the love of his life Betty Walker on October 20, 1960 and less than a month later in November, he joined the U.S. Air Force.

Daryl's lifelong career in the U.S. Air Force began in 1960. He served active duty for 6 years and during that time he served in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. In 1966 he began serving in the Air Force Reserves and continued in the Air National Guard for the remainder his total of 28 years of service. He was a proud retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Daryl was a proud member of the First Baptist Church in Mortons Gap, Kentucky. He was an ordained deacon who lovingly served his Lord and his church family. Daryl loved the Lord and we know he is rejoicing with Jesus. He was a loving and devout Christian husband who took great care of his wife, Betty, who had Alzheimer's dementia, until her death.

Daryl is survived by his son, Tim (Lesa) Vandiver of Bryant, Arkansas and daughter, Cindy Roper of Lebanon, Tennessee; grandchildren, Alex (Nate) DuBois of Lebanon, Tennessee, and Erica (Chase) Watson of Bryant, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Silas, Ezra, Brody, Colleen and Whittaker. Daryl is preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Jane Walker Vandiver; his twin brother, Haryl Breman Vandiver and his parents, Elbert Bailey Vandiver and Myrtie Marie Lantrip Vandiver.

There will be a graveside Funeral Service at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.

The family has asked, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Arkansas Alzheimer Association. https://act.alz.org/site/Donation.

Sorry to hear about Daryl. Larry remarked how he looks like Mr. Elbert when he was young and how he used to play basketball with him. Lots of memories. Prayers for the family.
