RIP Ron Stewart!

I treasure the moments growing up with Ron, they run deep.
Ron was an avid sports fan, he loved basketball. On his homecourt, he schooled me. Ron had a killer hook shot. Ron was the Lew Alcindor (Kareen Abdul-Jabbar) of the day. When we took a break, we each had a Pepsi and a full bag of potatoe chips. (Yes, a whole bag, back before the bags were filled with air.)

In Junior High (Tieton), we went to tons of Yakima Speedway events. Our Mom's took turns dropping us off and picking us up. We loved this. We would go down on the track after Harry Jefferson won and touch the heat and smell the tires. Ya, we took a good peek at the trophy girl as well. :-) Hard to believe that this was 48 years ago.

Later, as a senior in high school, Ron was "The voice of the Scotties". Ron treasured Bob Blackburn, famed announcer for the Seattle Sonics. Ron excelled at this. I was just in touch with Ron 2 weeks ago talking about Yakima Speedway.

I will miss Ron dearly.

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of a sweet friend, and former work colleague of Don’s. He was always so positive no matter what was going on, and so eager to help if you needed it. He always had a smile, and a funny story to tell! His family was so very important to him, as we recall. Though we lost contact through the years through moving, he will always be remembered as a good friend to Don, and myself. Prayers and condolences for Ron’s family during this difficult time.
