Allen Ray Walton of rural Mountain Home, AR
November 15, 1945 September 19, 2023
Allen Ray Walton passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023 in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 77.
Allen was a lifelong resident of the Twin Lakes Area, being born in Amos, Arkansas to Floyd A. and Lona R. (Hopper) Walton. He graduated high school at Mountain Home in 1964. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1965, earning a Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Allen married his bride of 53 years, Mary Ann Goforth, on June 4, 1970. They would live in Arkana and raise two children. He lovingly called her ''My bride'' in introductions throughout the years. Allen was a long time member and deacon of Norfork Baptist Church. He had a strong faith in Christ and we know that his past health issues are no longer slowing him down. His life was guided by his love for Jesus and his Family.
Allen worked as an auto mechanic and eventually opened West Road Garage with his business partner, Mr. Eudell Fletcher. He worked for decades at that garage helping customers get their cars back on the road or just visiting with those stopping by for a Pepsi and a chat. After retirement you would still find Allen ready to help his neighbors and out riding his four wheeler in his pasture. He was never one to hesitate when work needed to be done. Allen always had a smile and a little teasing for his grandchildren who he knew were ''the crown of old men'' (Proverbs 17:6).
Allen is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Melissa Rohr (Tony) of Melbourne, Greg Walton (Stacy) of Brookland; five grandchildren, Bryce Rohr, Kelsey Rohr, Marley Rohr, Elizabeth Walton and Samuel Walton; a sister, Winona Britt of Gainesville, MO; plus many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George (G.B.) Walton and sister, Doris Spitze.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Arkana Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:00 - 9:00 pm Friday, September 22, 2023 at Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home. Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home with Bro. David Wiley officiating.
Dear Mary, Melissa, and Greg,
I was saddened to learn of your beloved husband and father passing, but so pleased to read all the wonderful things said of him and the glorious life he lived.
Grief for one whose life is lived as Allen lived is much easier to bear, or so I’ve always thought. It was a great honor to have taught you, Melissa, and also you, Greg, in first grade. I hope your memories of that year are as sweet as mine are. May God give all of you Peace and Comfort through His Blessed Holy Spirit during this time of sorrow. With love and prayers, Anna Kemp
Allen was a long time friend. I will miss our days in town to eat somewhere & reminisce about days gone by. Rest in peace ole friend.
So sorry to hear of Allen’s death. We have always thought the world of him. Our heart goes out to all of you and want you to know he will be truly missed.
We are truly saddened by the loss on this earth of such a nice person. Prayerfully, he is comfortable now, and prayers for comfort for the family. He will always be missed I am sure.
Mary and family - we were so very sorry to hear about Allen, he was a real gem and a joy to interact with. Tracey loved seeing him in the pharmacy and he always asked about how her “boyfriend†was doing and wanted to see a picture of our granddaughter if she had a current one. We will miss him dearly, but thankful he is no longer in pain. Love you all, praying for your family. Love, Mike and Tracey
So sorry for your loss! Prayers for everyone.
No words to express our sorrow in losing Allen…no words to express our happiness his pain is gone and he’s with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…Allen Ray, we’ll see you in just a few more moments!

Lynell and I are sorry to hear of Allen’s passing. He was certainly the hardest working mechanic. I travelled West Road a lot going to our home, and all hours of the night he would be there working on something! He was always helpful and extremely fair in his pricing! He was a good man! Mary, so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. The first time I visited First Baptist Church Norfork, Allen was the first person to welcome me with his sweet hug. Will miss him.
Allen was an asset to his community in so many ways. He was an honest man who made an honest living. He never overcharged for his mechanical help and even went so far as to teach and instruct as he worked. God doesn't make them like that anymore. He is missed in this world but he is a king among kings in God's heaven. Prayers to the family and many, many friends he made along his way.
So sorry for your loss. Allen was a great neighbor and a great mechanic! He will be missed greatly !
Mary and family, Michael and I are so sorry to hear of Allen's passing. Hugs and prayers to all.
Mrs. Walton, I am so very sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and your family.
Mary, I'm so sorry for your loss. He will be missed very much. I remember his hug and always had a smile even when he was in pain. He is in a better place and no pain but that doesn't help our broken heart. We are here if you need us for anything. Love you bunches.
Allen was an amazing man..... kind, compassionate, & caring. He kept my car running so I could make it to nursing classes and then to work while I struggled at times to make ends meet being a single mom with 4 children and no child support. He was the best!
Mary, I’m praying for you and your family at this stage in life. Loosing your spouse is something that is so hard to face. Take comfort that we will all be welcomed home with open arms. Love you bunches Anna Mae and the Holland girls
Mary, family, and friends, our heart is broken with the news of Allen's death. Such a wonderful, loving man, that will always have the nickname "BJ". May you feel the loving arms of Christ around you as you continue your earthly journey without him.
Prayers for the family
