Joyce A. McCalla, age 70, of Yellville, Arkansas passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 in Mountain Home.
Joyce was born April 15, 1953 in Little Rock to Ernest Jefferson and Dorothy Elnora (Deatherage) Bunt. She had lived in the area since 1969 and was a member of Yellville Missionary Baptist Church. She worked for DHS in many capacities for 38 years. She was the District 9 Justice of the Peace since January 1, 2017 where she served on and chaired many committees. One of her favorite acts as JP was performing wedding ceremonies. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
She is survived by her husband, Danny McCalla of the home; her son, Michael McCalla (Krista) of Yellville; her sister, Patricia Mitchell of Dallas, Oregon and her grandchildren, Bradon McCalla, Ethan McCalla, Lainey McCalla, Shaylee McCalla, Adley McCalla and Casen McCalla.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Mrs. McCalla will be 1:00 - 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Roller-Burns Funeral Home in Yellville.
Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Roller-Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Yellville.
My sincerest sympathy. I am so sorry to see that Joyce of all my classmates has passed. She always had a smile for everyone. She will be missed,(by lots of people. Relatives, friends, co-workers & classmates.)
When I was working and she was working we had weekly contact, we always had good conversations and will always remember her laughs and smiles. She was loved dearly and I want the family to know that my prayers are for them to have peace in their hearts for her.
She was a wonderful person and will be missed.

As a first year Justice, Joyce was my mentor. A wonderful lady and friend. She will be missed. I am certain of her relationship with the Lord and look forward to meeting her again one day

I worked with Joyce for many years at DHS. She was a good friend. People were always asking us if we were sisters, so we called each other Sis. She will be missed by many, including me.
