In Loving Memory of Barbara Erion

August 3, 1944

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Erion, who left this world and entered Heaven on September 8, 2023 at the age of 79. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend who touched the lives of many.

Barbara Erion was born on August 3, 1944 in Stuttgart, AR to Hazel Linsley Hollingshead and Joe Linsley. She grew up in Little Rock, AR. Barbara was a wife, mother and also a medical technologist. She met her husband, George Erion, at UALR and they got married while in medical technology school. They were married for 58 years and were an amazing example of friendship and love.

Outside of her work, Barbara found great joy in ministry, including participating in several mission trips, attending Bible study, volunteering with Life Choices and attending Sunday School with her dear sisters in Christ. She enjoyed reading, dancing, traveling, studying her Bible and spending time with family and friends. She was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for 35 years.

Barbara Erion will be dearly missed by her husband, George Erion; her children, Christy Erion Bonge, Penny Erion Ray, Matthew Erion and her grandchildren, Caleb Bonge, Katie Bonge, Maggie Ray, Lauren Bonge, Allie Ray, Ava Erion, Ella Erion and other beloved family.

There will be an informal come and go ''Celebration of Life'' for Barbara on Tuesday, Sept. 12th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Conway, AR. The funeral service will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church as well on Wednesday, Sept. 13th at 10:00 a.m. There will be a graveside service in Little Rock at Roselawn Memorial Park following the funeral. Friends and family are invited to join us in remembrance.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Life Choices Pregnancy Resources Center in Conway in Barbara Erion's memory.

Dear Christy and family, I remember visiting your family on college weekends and a feeling of “home away from home” with homemade fudge and your mom’s sweet smile and her studying Bible scriptures. I am so shocked of the news of her passing and.only hope the memories and love she expressed will live on in you! ❤️

I first met Barbara when I was about 8 years old. She married my cousin George. I remember seeing Barbara at holiday celebrations with other members of the Erion family, as well as at Okatoma, a wonderful place in the country where my Uncle Earl and Aunt Rose had a cabin. I remember Barbara as a kind, loving , and cheerful person. She seemed like she was always smiling and/ or laughing. Everyone in her immediate and extended family will miss her special qualities.

We were blessed for several years to sit behind Barbara, George, and family on Sunday mornings at Pleasant Grove. She was a very charming lady and both our daughters benefited from her mentoring through their teenage years. Our prayers are with you as you navigate through the void that her passing leaves, but fret not, for you will see her again, and what a glorious reunion that will be.

Dear Penny and Family, we’re sorry for the loss of your Wife, Mom and Grandmother. I met Barbara when our daughters became friends in school. Years ago I was wondering where the verse “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” was in the Bible. I called Barbara and she new exactly, Joshua 24:15. We now have a plaque with the verse sitting on our fireplace. I’ll always remember her as a kind, quiet and sweet person. Her home reflected that verse and I know she’s at peace and in the house of her Lord. May God’s Mercy and everlasting Love comfort you. Friends in Christ, Denny and Helena

Barbara was my student several years ago in our clogging team, Konway Kickers..she was so sweet, and so quiet..Everyone loved her…she would say she was pobably too old, we said ,“ you can walk, can’t you”.. she loved it.Everytime I saw her, she says she would love to come back, and I told her she always had her spot saved…will miss seeing her sweet face…

I’m so sorry for your loss, I first met Barbara years ago when she worked at the hospital, she was always the picture of a prim proper lady at that time, I was totally impressed since I was more of the laid back hippy type person. It was a pleasure working with her, running into her around town throughout the years, she was a beautiful Christian Lady. Condolences and prayers for all.
