April 21, 1932 - September 4, 2023

Richard Strandlund, 91, of Conway, Arkansas went to be with the Lord, September 4, 2023. He was born April 21, 1932 in Hurley, South Dakota to the late Christian Nelson Strandlund and Opal C. Jernigan. The family moved from South Dakota to make their new home in Perry, Arkansas, where Richard finished school at Perry High School. Richard worked many years as production coordinator at Virco Manufacturing in Conway and retired with 29 years from the US Army National Guard. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters. Richard was active at his church, Central Baptist, where he volunteered to drive the church bus until his health and age no longer allowed him to do so. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy Strandlund; sisters, Iris Johnson and Beverly Dixon and brother, Christian Newton Strandlund.

Richard is survived by his wife, Mable Strandlund; son, Brian Strandlund (Holley Shettles); granddaughters, Heather Riddle (Jonathon), Sarah Britton (Jordan); a great-grandson, Carter Riddle and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 6-8:00pm, with graveside service officiated by Central Baptist Senior Pastor Don Chandler on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 10am at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway.

The Strandlund family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at StoneBridge Senior Living, Conway for the love and care they provided for Richard.

Mabel and Brian and family - We extend our sympathy to you during this time of mourning. Mr. Strandlund was one our favorites and we will will miss seeing him. He always had a kind word and many times, a funny story for us. Visits with him never failed to brighten our day. Mabel, Brian and family my thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. Richard was a great influence and role model during my early years and the Strandlunds always meant a lot to our family. I know he has been greeted by many in Heaven and Mom and Dad were two of them. Take care.
