of Conway, AR
May 9, 1975 - August 30, 2023
Joseph "Jody" Scott Bates, 48, of Conway, AR went to be with the Lord, August 30, 2023. He was born May 9, 1975 in Eldorado, Arkansas to Joe Alvin Bates and LaFaye Brewster. Jody was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Lafayette Brewster, Lora Ellen (Owen) Brewster, Archie Hovis Bates, Barbara Alvern (Mellinger) Bates and other beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jody was a lover of sports. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, Arkansas Razorbacks, St. Louis Cardinals and the Los Angeles Lakers. He enjoyed playing board games and video games with his family. He was known to be quite competitive, especially at team card games. Jody had a beautiful tenor singing voice and often shared this talent with others. Jody was very intelligent and gifted with computers, often being called a "computer nerd" and was a valued asset to the company for which he worked for over 13 years. Jody fiercely loved Tonya and his girls, Emma and Ellie. His girls were his world and he would do anything for them. Above all else, Jody loved the Lord. He served a two-year mission for the Lord and brought others to Him. Jody went peacefully into His arms and is now rejoicing with those who went before him.
Jody is survived by his wife, Tonya (Bradford) Bates; his twin daughters, Emma and Ellie Bates; his parents, father, Joe Bates (Gina), LaFaye Bates Cooper (David) and siblings, Brian Bates (Erin), Bob Bates (Jenny) and Brandy Bates Kuerth (Matt) and many nieces and nephews and extended family members and a host of beloved friends.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 1:00pm at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Conway, 2045 Dave Ward Dr., Conway, AR 72034. Interment will follow at 2:30pm at Crestlawn Memorial Park, 472 US-64, Conway, AR 72032.

This world will not be the same without Jody in it. But l am a better person having him own him.
Love and prayers to all of Jody's family. We have lots of fun memories watching Jody growing up to a wonderful young man. Just know that Jody is no longer in pain.
Jody was a very intelligent, witty man with a great personality and sense of humor! A computer nerd, yes he was! He sure loved my friend, Tonya and considered himself a lucky guy! We all shared many good times together! Jody even sang at our wedding, and he loved music! Mostly though his girls were his life, and no doubt he loved the Lord! Fly high my friend. I sure know where you are! Until we meet again, I am sure you are entertaining several with laughter! Tonya will be the strong woman he married!
