Emmett Lee Springer, Jr., 90, of Conway, Arkansas (formerly of Mayflower), passed away on August 13, 2023. He was born in Mayflower on June 27, 1933 to the late Emmett L. and Kathryn Springer,
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jane Hughes, Polly Satterfield, Mozelle Gunter and John Springer. His surviving sisters are Rosa Shirley and Virginia Ausbrooks.
Emmett was a member of Cadron Ridge Baptist Church in Conway, Arkansas. He attended Mayflower High School. He served on both the Mayflower School Board and the Mayflower City Council.
He was a fan of bluegrass music having attended many festivals around the south and his favorite in Rosine, KY. He was also a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Arkansas Razorbacks, having followed both for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he was retired from the Sunshine Biscuit Co.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Jones) Springer to whom he married on August 18, 1953 and they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this Friday. He is also survived by his sons, Shelby (Donna) Springer of Greenbrier, Jimmy Springer and Roger (Jami) Springer of Conway; daughter, Brenda (Rick) Hand of Maumelle, Arkansas; as well as 14 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Mayflower Cemetery on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 11:00am. The service will be conducted by Bro. James Wilson.
Emmett was a great man and will be missed. Prayers for a great family.
