Jessie C. Ray

of Conway, AR

May 9, 1940 - July 5, 2023

10-4 This is the "Ugly Buzzard" signing out.

Jessie C. Ray, 83, passed away on Wednesday July 5, 2023. He was born May 9, 1940 to Jess and Bessie Ray in Dyer County, Tennessee.

Jessie leaves his wife, Loyce; two daughters, Cherry (David), Donna (Charlie); three sons, Brian, Darren and Chris; eight grandchildren, Colt (Laynie) Chyla (Dylan), Jeremy, Christian, Kylie, Braylon, Paige and Aaron; five great-grandchildren, Colton, Addie, Everleigh, Remmy and Natalie. He is also survived by three brothers, Jerry, Roger and David and three sisters, Joy, Peggy and Barbara.

Jessie is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Thea; one sister, Sue and one brother, Hildre.

Jessie will be remembered for his love of 18 wheelers. For the many miles he traveled over 46 years, from east to west, north to south. He could drive anywhere one time and never need directions. He had his own built in GPS.

Jessie loved his wife of 37 years, unconditionally. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all of his heart. We will always remember those entertaining stories he would tell and his jokes and teasing nature. But most of all he will be remembered for his love of God. He prayed for us all daily and those prayers will definitely be missed.

In his later years, when Dementia disease robbed him of his strength and memory, it also gave him a softness we treasured. During this time, he taught us patience and allowed us to show him a small measure of love he so long showed us.

Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm Friday, July 7th at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Saturday at the funeral home with Bro. Danny Finney and Bro. Tim Harris officiating . Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Darren Colt Henderson, Colton Henderson, Chrystian Ray, Ricky Ray, Larry Chris Valentine and Aaron Ellison.

Dear Loyce & family, So very sorry to hear I of Jessie’s passing. Sending you love and prayers. I remember when you & he met at Walmart, in the good old days. He was always smiling & chatting when you saw him & Cherry shopping. I know he’s at peace, he was such a sweet spirt, always laughing, with something good to say. Love you,
Keeping you in my prayers.

Enjoyed working with Jessie (JR) at UCA. He was all ways reliable and kept a clean and
Armor all’d vehicle. He kept it so clean that you would slide around everywhere in it.
Steering wheel was so slick it was hard to hold on and turn it.
I’m sorry for your loss and may God look after him and you and your family.
Sincerely,
Paul Beavers

Remembering a happier time when Jessie would bring us fresh crappie and conversations out on the driveways. Hopefully he and Elmer are catching up with each other. God’s peace, Loyce.
