of Conway, AR
February 14, 1941 - June 26, 2023
Peg Gallup, 82, "eased on down the road" on Monday, June 26, 2023 surrounded by family.
Peg was born on Valentine's Day, 1941, in Clarksville, AR to R. Jack and Ruth (Tuggle) Cline. She was the only sister to Jack, Shelby, Jerry and Jim but she loved her sisters-in-law and her close friends as sisters.
She married Byran A. Gallup (USMC Ret) in 1960. They were parents to two daughters, Lavon Hatcher (Nile) and Mary Crawford (Tommy). She was grandmother to Matthew Crawford (Angela), Parks Crawford, Shelby Hatcher-Gosnell (Jonathan) and Savannah Hatcher. She was "Grandma Cookie" to Carroll Ann Crawford. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Peg was raised in Santa Ana, CA. She lived on all three coasts of the United States, traveled Europe and explored Okinawa before retiring in Conway, where she completed her education at UCA, earning her BSE and MSE. She combined her talents as a seamstress, a scratch cook, an artist and her Marine Corps spouse experiences to begin a second career as a Home Economics teacher for Conway Public Schools. She often reminisced about how much she loved her students, remembering each by name. She said "the reward was my student's participation and input toward their and my education".
Throughout her life she contributed her time and resources to Friends of the Faulkner County Library, Faulkner County Extension Homemakers Club, Marine Officers Wives Club, Navy Relief Society and various other charitable organizations. Many knew her as a treasure hunter and lover of antiques and history. She did crosswords in INK!
She was grateful for Dr. Blair Greenwood, Dr. Courtney Sick (CRMC), Dr. Alexander Burnett and Nurse Kim Spickes (UAMS) for six good years. The family thanks Arkansas Hospice for their compassionate support.
"It is eternity now. I am in the midst of it. It is about me in the sunshine; I am in it as the butterfly in the light-laden air. Nothing has to come; it is now. Now is eternity; now is the immortal life." - Richard Jefferies
There will be no service to mark her passing but per her request, as a Marine Corps wife, she hopes everyone will lift their next glass of cold beverage and say ''Here's to Peg! Hoorah!''
In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to Arkansas Hospice that made her final days where she could peacefully ''ease on down the road.''

Mrs. Gallup was a unique spirit, with a head full of knowledge and a heart full of love. I enjoyed all of the classes I took from her in high school, and it was always a joy to run into her in the following years. She always had a sparkle in her eye, ready to share a laugh or story, and genuinely cared about people. She will be missed by many!
I was her student in 1986-1988. The beginning of my senior year, I dropped out of school. She called me to get me to reconsider, I did not. She showed up at my jobs for years reminding me that I had a teacher spirit. Finally, I listened to her. I am starting my 20th year of teaching. She saved me and no telling how many others. Thank you, Mrs Gallup.
Mary,
I’m so very sorry about the loss you & your family are feeling! Prayers for you all!
Mrs. Gallup was an extraordinary woman and I loved being in her classes. I took her every year in high school and always had the best time learning from her. She was a hoot, and so much fun. I know every student of hers loved her. I would run into her after graduation and we would just talk and talk. I think about her often and how she was always so kind and patient and I hope my students will someday remember me like that. Prayers for her family, she will be missed by many.
I had Mrs. Gallup for JR. High Home Economics. She was a blast! Great teacher and will truly be missed!

To Mary and the family
I send my sincere sympathy, I loved your mom and she gave me a doll years ago, she said it reminded her of me. I'm praying that you all put your trust in God, the one that can keep, strengthen and be with you to help you through. Be encouraged she is in a better place than we are and in great company.
Love you Mary
I am so sorry for your loss, Mary. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Mary I am so sorry for your loss.
I so enjoyed time with Peggy when she lived in CA after I had joined the Cline Clan. I missed her after she moved to the east coast. I kidded her that if we lived closer we would probably get into some mischief together. She would respond "Probably? No for sure we would!" She and Byron were God Parents to Jerry and my son, Shane Cline. She was able to attend the baptism as she came bac to CA for it. That was way back in 1974. Of course Byron was away on a tour of duty.
My sympathy to her brothers and their familys, daughters, Lavon and Mary, their husbands and familys and grandchildren and friends. She will be missed.
I am so sorry for your loss. Peg was such a happy soul with her constant smile and chuckles. I am thankful our paths crossed so many years years ago and will always be grateful for the care she gave my students while subbing while I was out on medical leave.
You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.ðŸ™ðŸ»
With thoughts of sympathy and friendship.
With caring thoughts, you are all held close in my heart and prayers.
