David Phillip King, Sr

of Pangburn, AR

September 21, 1955 - June 27, 2023

David Phillip King, SR, 67, of Pangburn passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. He was born on September 21, 1955 in Holly Springs, Arkansas to the late Avery Ray and Margarett Louise Penn King. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harvey King and Samuel King.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 45 years, Irene Stringfellow King; one son, David Phillip (Melissa) King, Jr.; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Randy (Kathy) King, Gary King and one sister, Loretta (Jim) Vote; along with many other extended family members and friends.
David met and married the love of his life on September 27, 1977 and while he worked away from home for many years as a "bending engineer" on the pipeline, he provided for his family. He learned many skills while working on the pipeline, but the unique thing about David was that he had many more natural gifts that enabled him to be able to do whatever he set his mind to do. He was known for being able to grow any kind of vegetable in his garden, build anything with any kind of wood, could take apart any type of vehicle and put it back together, including tractors. His nephew referred to him as a "Hi-Tech Red-Neck" in response to the fact that he could even operate a computer without being shown. He had a passion for art and was very good at painting and drawing, even on metal saw blades.
David grew to be more of a homebody in the later years of his life and enjoyed being with his family.
Services are scheduled for Monday, July 3, 2023 at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in the Clay Community with Visitation being from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM and the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Cemetery in Judsonia. All services are under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, Searcy.
