Marjorie Rosenkotter, 72, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and dedicated educator, passed away on June 8, 2023 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was born on September 1, 1950 in Grand Island, NE to Art and Vesta (Falldorf) Rosenkotter who instilled in her a love for learning and a compassionate heart that would shape her life and career.
Marjorie's pursuit of knowledge led her to Concordia Teacher's College, where she graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in English Language and Literature. Recognizing the importance of empowering others through education, she furthered her studies and obtained a master's degree in Reading Teacher Education from Nazereth College in 1991. Marjorie's thirst for knowledge was only surpassed by her desire to share it with others.
For an admirable span of 43 years, Marjorie served as a teacher, dedicating herself to shaping young minds and nurturing their love for literature and language. Thirty-one of those years were spent as a dedicated member of the Mountain Home School District, where she made a profound impact on countless students, colleagues and the community at large.
Beyond the classroom, Marjorie's commitment to her faith was unwavering. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and generously offered her time and talents to the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Recognizing the importance of literacy, she also volunteered with the Literacy Council, helping others develop a passion for reading and opening doors to a world of knowledge.
In her leisure time, Marjorie found solace and joy in pursuing various arts and crafts. Crocheting was among her favorite pastimes, allowing her to create beautiful and intricate pieces with her nimble fingers and creative spirit.
Marjorie will be lovingly remembered by her surviving family members including her brother, Kevin (Sandra) Rosenkotter and sister, Anita (David) Kreienkamp. She will forever hold a special place in the hearts of her nephew, Nathan Rosenkotter, nieces, Jennifer (Jonah) Attebery and Rebekah (Christopher) Oleksiw and great nephew, Julian. Although Marjorie experienced the sorrow of losing her parents and one nephew, Justin, throughout her life, their memories will continue to inspire and comfort those who loved her.
A visitation to celebrate Marjorie's life will be held on June 13, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Kevin McReynolds. Marjorie will be laid to rest at Baxter Memorial Gardens, where her spirit will forever rest in peace.
Marjorie Rosenkotter will be remembered not only for her profound dedication to education but also for her kind heart, unwavering faith and her ability to inspire those around her. Her impact on her students, colleagues and community will be felt for generations to come. May her soul find eternal rest, and may her memory continue to inspire and uplift those who knew and loved her.

I worked with Marg at Pinkston. She was one of the best educators I was fortunate enough to know. She was always searching for the best lessons for her students. She will be missed.

Sending God's peace and comfort to the family and friends of Marj. Was fun growing up in the Rosenkotter family, especially in attending family reunions and gatherings! As a cousin, Marj was just a year older, so we did things together those times. We also attended Concordia Teachers College at same time...would often hang out in her room my sophomore year (her junior year) because of living off-campus. She would help me with math, and her roommate with chemistry! Look forward to a reunion with her and other family members in heaven one day!!

I met Marj when I moved to MH many years ago at Redeemer Church. She has been a caring Christian friend and co worker at MHPS. Marj always had time to talk and loved to teach.
