Rex "Ron" Ronald Webb

of Newark, AR

November 17, 1947 - June 7, 2023

Rex Ronald "Ron" Webb, 75, of Newark, Arkansas went to be with his Savior on June 7, 2023.

He was born on November 17, 1947 in Batesville to Columbus Andrew and Nellie Francis Burge Webb and was raised in Maple Springs.

He had a long and successful career in new car sales before fulfilling a life-long dream of serving as a police officer. He was an Independence County Deputy when he ran for Circuit and Chancery Court Clerk, an office he held from January 1, 1985 until December 31, 1992. He was elected Independence County Sheriff in November of 1992 and served the citizens from January 1, 1993 to December 31, 2000. He served on the National Sheriffs Association Board and enjoyed networking with law enforcement personnel from all over the nation. He eventually returned to his love of selling cars until his retirement.

Ron was the longest standing member of Maple Springs Baptist Church and served many years on the Board of Trustees for the church. He also previously served on the Cemetery and Community School Boards.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gerald Webb and his nieces, Carolyn King and Charlotte Knight.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Dr. Ann Webb; three daughters; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Ronda Webb Self (Todd) and their children, Cameron and Nathan Self of Bryant; Terri Ann Ford (Tommy) and their children, Taylor Ford (Baylea), Hadley and Presley Cunningham of Batesville and their granddaughter, Tessa Drew Ford; Lindsay Webb Haivala (Danny) and their children, Lucas Tallant, Hayden and Halle Haivala and Parker Webb Tallant of Midwest City, Oklahoma. Ron loved spending time with and spoiling his grandkids! He is also survived by his brother, Max Webb of Newport and sister, Lockie Webb McCoy (James) of Newark, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers are Chad Webb, Scott McCoy, Tommy Ford, Joe Goings, Nathan Self, and Hayden Haivala. Honorary Pallbearers include Ken Webb, Marty Goings, Shane Goings, Taylor Ford, and Lucas Tallant.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Maple Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Curt Howard and Dr. Todd Self officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Springs Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00pm Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the church prior to service.

On behalf of the Oil Trough Class of 1965, we send our sympathy to Ann and his family. Many happy times during our class reunions and Ronnie never missed one. He was always so delightful in school and his smile and laughter never changed. May God give all of you strength in the coming days to mourn his passing.
