James "Jim" Quickel, beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather and dedicated church attendee, passed away on May 8, 2023 in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 90. Born on August 27, 1932, in Newark, Ohio, Jim led a life full of family, friends, faith, and a passion for ''The Ohio State Buckeyes.'' He was preceded in death by his father, Everett E. Quickel and mother, Emma Kinser Quickel, of Newark, Ohio. As the family copes with the loss of Jim, they find solace in the knowledge that he was reunited with his beloved parents in eternal peace.

Jim is survived by his wife of 70 years, Beatrice Hotchkiss Quickel both formerly from Newark, Ohio; two sons, Curtis J. Quickel, and wife Angela of Fayetteville, Arkansas and his other son Dale E. Quickel and wife Lisa of Houston, Texas. Jim is also survived by three wonderful granddaughters; Ashlyn Quickel Vogel of Kansas City, Kansas, and Meaghan and Madison Quickel of Houston, Texas and his special cousin Carol King of Newark, Ohio.

Throughout his life, Jim was an active and devoted member of the Zion Hill Church of God of Benton, Arkansas. He routinely attended church services and was known for his generosity and willingness to offer a helping hand when needed. His strong faith was not just a source of comfort for himself, but also an inspiration to others.

Jim loved being papaw and spending time with his granddaughters, making birdhouses, feeding the neighborhood wildlife, and fishing with his son Dale.

Of particular importance in his life were his friends and associates at National Old Line and Equity National Insurance Companies where he worked for 35 years and retired as a Vice President in 2012.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Patrick and Merlie Fields, Middleton P. Ray, Esq., partners in crime Phyllis Blankenship, and Gordon Swaim and many others both past and present, who greatly enriched Jim's 90 years.
