I love you and will miss our long talks on the phone and in person. You always made me laugh and smile. May you be at peace and go be with Wynona now.

How do you define a friendship like we have had over the past 68 years? It probably started when the 1st Sargent called me over to the orderly room in 1955 and introduced me to my new roommate. It was A/2C Howard Rowley, otherwise known as "Sid". Maybe it was when I was your best man at yours and Wynona's wedding or later when you were best man at Norma Jo and my wedding. It could have been when we were assigned to Guam in 1959 and our ladies came later. During the wait, you and I played my first round of golf. You laughed a lot at my golf swing. Now that I think about it our assignment from Guam to the "pine tree line" in North America, you to Opiem, Montana and me to Fortuna, ND, probably glued us together for the long haul. The years have passed since we have retired from military service and over the years we have had reunions with many of our friends back in Midwest City, OK to celebrate our first active duty assignment to the 746th AC & W Squadron. Sid, as we talked when I was with you in February, we both agreed that the Lord has been good to us over the years and as we both celebrated our 88th birthdays this year, we have been truly blessed.

I am saddened by the passing of my friend Sid Rowley. I have known Sid for about sixty five years. We met when we were both stationed at a RADAR site in Oklahoma City, Ok. Sid and I found our life partners, who were friends and also stationed at the same place. Sid and I and our families were transferred to Guam in 1959. While awaiting our families arrival Sid and I were roommates for a couple of months. When we were reassigned back to the states in 1960 we sort of lost touch. We reconnected in 2006, after I had moved to Florida and while on a trip with my family we stopped in Little Rock and had dinner with Sid and Wynonna. He and I remained in touch through messages and email since that time. I will miss the fact that he is no longer available. RIP sir.

My fondest memory of uncle Sid was playing golf with him and my dad at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas when I was about twelve years old. Sid was always kind to me, had a smile on his face and was just fun to be around. I was pretty shy at that age and not a lot of confidence, hence you always remember the people that made you feel comfortable. I called Sid twice in the last six months and he was still that kind soul who I knew as a young man. We laughed a little, said we loved each other and both of us felt at peace. What a wonderful person to emulate..........

Sid was a friend from the time he and Wynonna first moved to Little Rock. He was always kind and fun to talk to. I have mostly followed him through his sister in law Betty these last few years.
