Dixie Faye Bass

of Little Rock, AR

April 30, 1941 - March 31, 2023

Dixie Faye (Garner) Bass of Little Rock, Arkansas entered the Kingdom of Heaven on March 31,2023. She was born at home April 30, 1941 near Rayville, Louisiana, the 2nd of 5 children born to Fred Edward and Ola (Viola) Garner. Dixie fell completely in love and married Al Bass in 1958 and moved with him to Montana. After the birth of their third child, Al and Dixie relocated to Little Rock. Dixie held several jobs after her children started school, but enjoyed her years as a reservationist with Southwest Airlines the most. Dixie was an avid reader and her cooking and baking efforts were legendary in the family. Dixie spent time as a member for many years in the German-American Club.

Dixie was the foundation of our family and the glue that held us all together. The angel who covered us in love, always. She gave all of us her time and energy in abundant amounts. She held all the babies and cooked for all the families dealing with illness. She was the safe place to land for the grandchildren and greatgrandchildren who needed a break while growing up. She loved having a house full of family, especially on holidays. She loved watching her legacy grow with the addition of in-laws and 'bonus family'. She adored her Louisiana and Texas family and was quick to get in the car and visit when the opportunity presented itself. She knew every name and how every person fit on the family tree. Her tolerance and acceptance of all of us came from her DNA.

Dixie is predeceased by her husband; her parents; her grandchildren, Kyle and Vinnie and her older sister, Careen Johnston. She is survived by children, Keith Bass, Lisa Bass Kincaid and husband, Michael of Alexander, Laura Bass Henderson of Little Rock and bonus daughter, Maria Francis of Little Rock. Her legacy includes grandchildren, Chris Henderson and wife, Brandi, Dustin Henderson, Morgan Johnson and Shay Williams (Marvin) as well as bonus grandchildren, Christianna Braddix (husband, Spencer) and Engelica Francis (James) of North Little Rock. She leaves siblings, Gary Garner (wife, Pat) and Bobby Garner (wife, Pat) of Louisiana and Cathy Pringle (husband, Herb) of Texas and 14 great grandchildren.

Arkansas visitation and Celebration of Dixie's Life will be Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 4:00 pm at Roller Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 I-30, under the direction of Pastor Spencer Braddix, with visitation following from 5-7 pm. Louisiana services will be at Mulhearn Funeral Home, 2308 Sterlington Rd, Monroe, Louisiana, Saturday, April 7,2023 at 2:00 pm under the direction of Pastor Shirley Davidson. Pallbearers are Keith Bass, Chris Henderson, Joey Swaggart, Caleb Poole, Parker Bass and Matthew Garner. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Garner, Bobby Garner, Mark Bass and Steve Bass. Interment at Hall Cemetery to follow.

There will be an empty place in the hearts of many whose lives were touched by your mother.

Your mother honored all of life by the way she loved those who shared it with her. Dixie will be warmly remembered, deeply missed.

May God wrap his arms around you, friends & family during this time of sorrow. 🙏🙏🙏

Very nice to meet her children Laura, Lisa & Keith 🥰

My deepest sympathy,

Susan Patterson (SWA)

Dixie called me Gabi and I will miss her Voice.
We enjoyed a wonderful visit together with a bonus Greatgranddaughter Amelia.
Seeing her smiling and enjoy her antics was heartwarming.
Easter was the Holiday we spend with her, that will make this Easter especially sad for all of us.
Celebrating our risen Lord will make the pain of loosing Dixie bearable.

I talked to Dixie a few weeks ago. We talked of growing up with all our cousins. We were all close. I am so glad that all us cousins were able to get together several years ago in Louisiana. It was so good to see everyone we grew up with. Dixie will be missed so much. She reminded me of her Mother, Aunt Ola, so much. Love to all the family.
