Gwendolyn M Diehl

of Conway, AR

August 25, 1928 - March 26, 2023

Gwendolyn M. Diehl, age 94, of Conway, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 26, 2023.

She was born August 25, 1928 to the late Ray Welch and Bessie Marie Welch (who died when Gwen was 4) and Step-Mom, Agnes Welch all of Heathsville, Virginia.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Conway, AR where she was a member of the Grace Sunday School Class and Bible Fellowship Class for many years. She loved to study God's Word, read, collect angels and dolls and have yard sales to help raise money for other people.

She worked as an RN at Conway Regional Medical Center for 45 years. She was one of the first RNs to work at the old Conway Memorial Hospital, now Conway Regional Medical Center. She loved and wanted to help everyone. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Gwendolyn is survived by her two daughters, Janet Dunlap of Rogersville, Missouri and Donna (Frank) Dudeck of Vilonia, Arkansas; five grandchildren; fifteen great- grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, W.A. "Bye" Diehl; a sister, Tony Landers of Conway and two brothers, Luther Welch of Kilmarnock, Virginia and Meade Welch of Hampton, Virginia.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all the nurses and staff at Salem Nursing Home who lovingly cared for Gwendolyn during the last 2 years of her life.

A special thanks and appreciation for Paul Warren who helped maintain her home and checked in on her frequently during the last 10 years she lived at home.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Conway with a visitation from 10:00am-11:30am at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Conway or the American Cancer Society or the Cleme Cook Scholarship Fund at Conway Regional Medical Center.

Jan & Donna, I’m sorry I just saw your mother’s obituary and learned of her passing. I remember her attending and serving others at First Baptist for many years. I felt privileged to be able to take her dinner from the church once during Covid. She was a devoted mother and caring person. I know you will miss her.

I had the privilege of being Gwen’s Sunday school teacher until she could no longer attend. Our friendship was a blessing to me and Carl. I will miss her but know where she is. She loved the Lord and is in His presence now!!

Donna and family,
So sorry about Ms. Gwen, She was one of a kind!
I miss our telephone talks we had with all the laughs and then her serious talks,
Saying “Steph I just don’t know what’s going to happen in this world if Jesus doesn’t come back soon”
Well now she is talking with Jesus and better off than we are!
I was one lucky girl the day I met her and became her friend!
Prayers in the days to come.
