of Alton, MO
November 25, 1940 - March 27, 2023
Eunice wheeler, lovingly known by so many as "Nana", passed away Monday evening peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones.
Eunice was born in cross county Arkansas to parents Walter and Ruth Acuff in 1940. She worked with her parents and siblings on their family farm before marrying Frank Wheeler and moving to West Memphis Arkansas in 1961. With her parent's devote Christian morals influencing her, Eunice remained a member of Avondale Baptist church for 47 years where she also taught Sunday school.
While Eunice worked a variety of jobs in her life, she retired from Wimmer Brothers Printing (Mercury) company in (2008) but kept in touch with the many people she grew to love while she was there. Eunice also worked for Family In Transition for thirteen years and retired in 2021. Most will remember Nana from her compassion, her huge heart, and her delicious desserts.
Nana's house was always a special place. Her home was always filled with the smells of something delicious cooking, the sound of laughter and the warmth of love. Everyone who entered was family.
She raised three strong willed and loving children, was the best doughnut delivering/driving teacher to all 6 of her grandchildren and got to meet and love 4 great grandchildren. Her love expanded across generations, nations, families, friends, and anyone who came to talk to her for a few minutes. She will be remembered for her dedication to the lord, warm memories left with so many who knew her, southern hospitality and unwavering love for her family.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents Samuel Walter Acuff and Ruth Carolin (Garner) Acuff, siblings Samuel Edgar Acuff, Walter Silas Acuff and Ruth Genevieve (Acuff) Williams.
Eunice is survived by her son Bobby G. Wheeler (Teresa) of West Memphis, AR, daughter Cyndy Young (Paul) of Alton, MO, daughter Julie Gately (Jim) of Marion AR.
Her grandchildren Sara Patterson (Garrett Cothern), Memphis, TN, James Aaron Gately (Rebeca Armagnac), Santa Barbara, CA, Lauren Gately (Andrew Cabigao) of Marion, AR, Bobby G. wheeler, Jr. (Jill) of Little Rock, AR, Clay Nance (Raley), Greenbriar, AR, Clint Nance (Jordan), Gatewood, MO, Erica Murphy (Jason), Denver, CO, Lauren Young, Denver, CO. She will also be deeply missed by four great-grandchildren, Aliya N. Gately, Josephine Nance, Noble Nance and Clementine Nance.
