The Obituary of Brent Wakefield, written by his daughter.
Samuel Brent Wakefield entered this world on December 3, 1972 and left it behind on January 8, 2023. While he will be greatly missed by his wife (Emily), three children (Hollis, Weston, and Eli), parents (Sam and Peggy), and brother (Nick), he rests peacefully in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Fishing, Star Wars, and sports filled the first several years of his life. After graduating from Arkansas Tech University with a Bachelor's of Arts in History and Political Science, he pursued a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock School of Law. Brent served in the US Air Force JAG Corps before working at the Barber Law Firm, rounding out his professional career. Foremost to the hours spent in his office, Brent faithfully dedicated his life to his family, friends, and most importantly, his Savior.
Without exaggeration, a song bounced around in Brent's head every second of the day-whether it was 80s, country, or worship music. Some would contend that his stylishness resulted in a new shirt or pair of shoes every month. His sense of humor lightened every room he entered, and his infectious love for Jesus drew others to experience the same full life that he possessed. After every Men of the Ozarks retreat, where Brent taught his fellow men how to truly operate as brothers in Christ, he always returned home with warm hugs and bags of candy snatched from the cooler. He spent countless Sunday mornings on the fourth row of The Summit Church's sanctuary, lifting his voice and hands in praise, and he was ordained as an Elder in the Church for his selfless service and ardent love of Christ. Anyone who knew him would testify that Brent Wakefield left hundreds of changed lives in his wake.
A service in honor of his legacy and faith will be held on Tuesday, January 17th at 2:00 pm at The Summit Church (6600 Crystal Hill Rd North Little Rock AR 72118) In lieu of flowers, donations can be mailed to For King and Kingdom (PO Box 8023, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909) or the following link: http://tinyurl.com/brentwakefield

I am so saddened to learn of your passing. I'll never forget the good times in law school...there were a few. Remember the Christmas bus ride to Professor Wright's home during our first year or law school and running to the basement of the law school during the January 1999 tornadoes...crazy. Then you took the step into the blue...US Air Force Jag Corp. A few of us followed your path. Thank you for leading the way in law school and serving our country...I would only change one thing...wish we would have stayed in touch. R.I.P. Brother. ðŸ™â¤ï¸ðŸ™
I am so sorry for your loss, but rejoice in the fact that Brent is in Heaven with his Lord and Savior. Prayers are being sent up for the family.
Bill and I are so sorry for your loss.
Blessings to the family.

Grateful for the opportunity to get to know the Wakefield family throughout the years. I know Brent’s legacy will continue to live on through his family. Praying for God’s blessings over the Wakefield family during their time of bereavement.
May Prayers be with Brent's family , I worked with Brent for a few years at the Barber Firm and he was one of the nicest people I have ever met.
What an incredibly beautiful tribute from Hollis - as a husband, father, and believer, there could be no kinder and more meaningful words offered than these. I am saddened that Brent will not have more time here on earth to be such a shining light, but may his legacy implore us all, near and far, friend and acquaintance, to not waste a moment of the precious life we have been given.
I am so sorry to learn about Brent’s death. It was my pleasure to have had the opportunity to work with him at the Barber Law Firm. Deepest sympathy to his family and many friends. He will be greatly missed.
I loved Brent and the fun we had as 2nd cousins! Loved the laugh (giggle) he had. Loved that I embarrassed him by boldly saying hello to one of his commanders and explained that I was his cousin from Texas. I told him not to worry. The commander put his pants on one leg at a time just like he did —- not sure that helped. Ha! Love you, Brent!
My prayers for the family. He was a true servant of the Lord and an inspiration to many. He will be missed.
He will be so dearly missed. He left behind such a beautiful, talented, and loving family, and I know he is smiling down on all of y’all from Heaven.
I have had the distinct honor of knowing Brent for about 14 years. His wife, Emily, is my best friend, and over the years, I have seen Brent through her eyes. The perspective thru that lense has always revealed Brent to be a man after God’s own heart whose devotion to his family and the Lord fully complemented his burning desire to shepherd men to be godly, faithful men of God. There is no doubt in my mind that when Brent approached his Savior in person for the first time, he was greeted with these words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.â€
Beautiful tribute about your dad Hollis! Praying for your family! Love all of you!
