of Monticello, AR

June 28, 1935 - December 3, 2022

Lillie Beth Blaylock Bivens

Born 6/28/1935

Deceased 12/3/2022

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Lillie Mae Blaylock; her Husband, James H. Bivens; one sister, Juanita Cook.

She is survived by her two sons: Curtis Bivens (Darenda); Ken Bivens (Yukiko); by four grandchildren: Jim Bivens (Brook); Amelia Bivens Jenkins (Kyle); James Reid Bivens (Weslea Miniat); Jessaca Sheperd; two great grandchildren: Lillie Renea Bivens; William Everett Jenkins; by four sisters: Marie Barker; Ernestine Johnston (Buddy); Betty Blaylock; Thelma Blaylock; and many numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Ms. Lillie Bivens spent 54 years of marriage to her husband, James prior to his death on December 5, 2009. She was a homemaker, and a retired employee of the Arkansas State Health Department. Lillie lived most of her life in West Helena before moving to Monticello in 2016. She was a member of Lexa Baptist Church for over 40 years where she taught Sunday School for many of those. Lexa Baptist Church was always her church ''home'' and even after relocating to Monticello, she continued to receive bulletins and prayer support from the membership.

She spent her life giving to and supporting her family members and church friends. She was a great cook, especially of the fish and wild game that were provided to her by family members. She enjoyed her family time and watching her grandchildren grow into adulthood. She was a big fan of the trips that she would take with her sisters to go and see how many pennies that they could invest during an evening visit to some of the local casino's. She was totally independent up until the last few months of life, driving her car and traveling at her pleasure.
During the last few months, she was kept comfortable and received a lot of love and care from her personal care giver, Ms. Kathy Pace. Also, a special thanks to the Monticello Hospice and Home Health team for the support and help they provided the family.

A celebration of life service will be held at Lexa Baptist Church, 313 Cedar Street, Lexa AR 72355 on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.
Visitation will be from 9am- 10am. The Celebration Service will begin at 10am with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Curtis and Ken, I just learned of your beautiful mom's passing. Back in our childhood, she was like a 2nd mom to me. I watched her video and read her obituary with rears and smiles. Such wonderful memories! I told my husband that she is probably the only person who sewed and cooked as good as my mama.....maybe better! She was a good fisherman too! I remember how she made y'all learn to play the piano because she had that gift as well as singing. I remember singing in the car together on the way to school before we started riding the bus. What a full life she had! You all loved her well and she y'all. Praying for you all as I know you will miss her greatly, but you will certainly join her in Heaven some day. Much love, Barbara ( or as your dad called me, BB ANN) 💞🙏
