February 1, 1941 - November 29, 2022
Jackie Lynn Moore, 81, (Jack) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Jack was born on February 1, 1941 in New Madrid, Missouri to his late parents, Hunter and Pauline Moore. When Jack was just 19, he decided he wanted to join the United States Air Force and served with the Military Police and Transportation Squadron for 8 years (1960-1968). After basic training, he was stationed at Chennault Air Force Base in Lake Charles, LA. He transferred to Altus AFB in Altus, OK, spent a year in Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam, and then completed his service at McChord AFB in Tacoma, WA.
During his time in Altus, Oklahoma Jack met and fell for Shirley and soon married in 1966. Jack and Shirley lived in several states before settling in Little Rock, Arkansas. After moving to Arkansas, Jack worked for United Parcel Service, then FedEx, driving a truck for nearly 30 years. His love of driving didn't stop after his retirement and he spent another 10 years delivering vehicles for dealer trades.
When Jack wasn't working, he had a passion for cars, drag racing, traveling with Shirley, football and spending time with family. More recently, Jack loved investing quality time with his favorite TV shows and movies, morning coffee with Shirley, daily trips to Wal-Mart and recliner naps.
Jack was preceded in death by his father and mother, as well as several siblings. Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Moore; sons, David Moore (Vera) and Eric Moore (Jessica); grandchildren, Chelsea Hartwick (Jeremy), Stephanie Bittle (Tyler), Jackson Moore and Vivian Moore; great-grandchildren, Jensen Hartwick and Olivia Hartwick as well as four siblings and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital or Healing Hands International on behalf of Jack. The memorial service will be held at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home in Little Rock, Arkansas on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Military Honors will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 6 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
