Lela Joyce Harris

of Marianna, AR

November 29, 1937 - November 28, 2022

Lela Joyce Harris, 84, met the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 28, 2022 in Marianna, Arkansas. On November 29, 1937, she was born first of four children to Earnest "Pete" Vondran and Virgie DeLois Vondran. The Vondran's made their home in the Mt. Jerdan area of Moro. Joyce graduated from Moro High School in 1955 and soon after married the love of her life, Ray Harris. Ray and Joyce added three strapping sons to their family. "The Boys", as she affectionately called them, kept her on her toes with baseball, boy scouts and fast cars. Joyce was a faithful member of the Gospel of Peace Tabernacle in North Little Rock until the last few years when Parkinson took her leg strength. She loved singing with her family and with her church. She had a wonderful alto voice. Joyce was also a great song writer. She penned many praises about her Lord and Christian Walk. Joyce or Momma Jo, as she was referred to by her grandchildren, had a wonderful hobby of flea marketing. She opened and ran one at her home for 28 years. She absolutely loved the world of yard selling. Many a day she was gone by 6 a.m. to be the first one at her list of sales that day with Anna and Logan and Aunt Margie tagging along. If she wasn't at "the market", you could find her down on Big Creek, her favorite fishing hole. A lot of fun memories were made with some of her grandkids down on the creek. Joyce loved life and loved sharing that joy with others. She always had a song in her heart and lips. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her sons, Rocky Harris (Mary) of Benton, AR; Alan Harris (Melody) of Brinkley, AR; Pat Harris (Paula) of Moro, AR; one sister, Margie Brewer of Palestine, AR; two brothers, Caryles Vondran (Wanda) of Greenbrier, AR; Randy Vondran (Pam) of Searcy, AR; grandchildren, Bradley Harris (Bobby Hill); Logan "Petey" Harris (Jamie), Anna Davison (Kevin), Alan Harris, Jr (Darrian), Angela Harris and six great-grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to Prospect Cemetery, 2216 Hwy 261 So., Moro, AR 72368. Pallbearers will be Alan Harris Jr., Logan Harris, Kevin Davison, Bobby Hill, Larry Harris, Anthony Vondran and Faron Hamilton. Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Prospect Cemetery in Moro, Arkansas with Brother Cain Wheeler officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Marianna, Arkansas. Joyce, What a beautiful woman!!! She and my mother, Velda Strum, spent many hours going to yard sales and loved every minute. Even though she was my mother's niece, they were more like sisters. Hope to see you later cousin.

I love cousin Joyce! Even when I was very young, I would look at her thinking about how beautiful she is!
The Vondran family was my favorite home to be in. Uncle Pete and Aunt Lois invited us into their home for a week, I'm guessing it may have been in the upper 50's. I felt so loved! They treated us like royalty! We mourn her passing but believe we will see her soon in Heaven!

Well, Happy Heavenly Birthday! I bet when you got to the gates you were just singing as loud and beautiful as always. You were like a Mom instead of my Aunt. I had so much fun with you at the Flea Market. But, most of all seeing your smiling face holding my cold coke for me!. I'm already missing you terribly but glad I got to visit and read Bible to you, had our talks and you opened one eye , I knew it wouldn't be long. Well you enjoy being with family and we got it under control down here...you rest now in the arms of the Lord.
