Wanda Lee Fortner

of Harrison, AR

January 16, 1941 - November 20, 2022

Our precious Momma went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, November 20th. She passed away peacefully in her warm bed under the great care of Hospice of the Hills after a long battle with vascular dementia.

She was the daughter of an Assembly of God minister and accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was a devoted Christian her entire life. She was a founding member of Faith Assembly of God, alongside her husband, Charles, and attended services there until she was no longer physically able. One of her favorite hobbies was interior decorating. She loved decorating her home and changing it frequently. Most of her career was spent in the banking industry and she retired as a Farmer's Insurance Agent.

Some time ago, she wrote a book, which was dedicated to her grandchildren about some of her experiences with the Lord. The last page is so beautifully written and exemplifies her love of the Lord in such an elegant way. ''My written account pales in comparison to the reality of my experiences. I do not have the words or capacity to describe the scope of this glimpse into the afterlife. I am left with the steadfast assurance that there is nothing to fear if we remain in the right standing with the Father, the Giver of Life, the Lover of our Souls, our Kinsman Redeemer. When our time comes, it will happen in the blink of an eye, so very swiftly, no time to prepare, we must just get ready, and stay ready! Dottie Rambo wrote a lovely song about Heaven that says it so well: ''and when at last we see the face of Jesus before whose image other loves all flee, and when they crown him Lord of All, I'll be there, this is just what Heaven means to me.'' Our bridegroom is preparing a place for his bride that will be so extravagantly luxurious that we cannot imagine it! My fervent hope is that he comes very soon. I'll meet you there in the clouds.''

She was survived in death by her daughter, Daina Carole Fortner Ramsey, and husband, Don, and grandson, Nicholas Ramsey and wife, Andrea; grandson, Taylor Ramsey, and wife, Megan; great-grandson, Liam Ramsey, son of Nicholas and Andrea Ramsey; another sweet great-grandson, Wesley, coming in December; great-grandson, Colin Ramsey, son of Taylor and Megan Ramsey and another sweet great-grandson, Aidan, coming in December also. Her daughter, Stacy Leigh Fortner Hilligoss, and husband, Jason, and granddaughters, Allison Hilligoss, Adison Hilligoss, and Madison Tramell and grandson, Kason Hilligoss, and her brother, Leroy (Bud) Kuykendall.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, George Charles Fortner; her parents, Gus and Pauline Kuykendall; her siblings, Violet Morris, Renetta Grinder, Sue Boyette, Paul Kuykendall, and a granddaughter, Daina Dawn Ramsey.

The graveside service was at Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, with Reverend Arlis Thrasher officiating. The family covets your prayer at this time.

My deepest sympathy, Stacey. I’m so proud of you for all you did for your sweet mama. You gave her security when she needed it most. Unconditional love, care when it was so difficult to do. You are an example how daughters should be. I’m so proud of you and know your mama was too. God had to take her or you would have never let go. God bless you with peace, rest, and all the memories you cherish surface in your mind as you grieve. Love you!
