Tom Hill

of Little Rock, AR

December 15, 1952 - November 16, 2022

William Thomas Hill was born on December 15, 1952 in Little Rock. He died on November 16, 2022 in Little Rock.

Tom is survived by his wife of 36 years, Debra Whitley Hill; his daughters, Sarah Bruner (Kyle), Anna Hill, Elizabeth Bingham (Andy) and Mary Claire Imbro (Daniel), each of whom he loved more than life itself. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (Heidi) and sister, Kelly Cooper (Jack). He was predeceased by his parents, William C. and Marian Hill and sister, Holly.

Tom's life was defined by coming to know Jesus Christ as his Savior, by sheer grace and mercy in 1972 and in growing to know and love Him more in the years since. To Tom's surprise, in mid-life he came to more clearly see the beauty of Jesus and more deeply recognize the great gift of God's love and forgiveness in what he described as, "A season of stunning, overwhelming joy in Christ that never went away".

Tom's life was enriched by Debbie's wonderful love and the amazing gift they shared of four daughters and three sons-in-law. The blessings from his family were beyond number. Yes, amazing!

Tom contributed to those around him through his career at Interstate Highway Sign, Merrill Lynch and Foundation Resource Management, his service to Fellowship Bible Church and his joy in meeting with friends. He was uniquely blessed to have a couple of very close groups of men with whom he walked through life and without whom he wouldn't have made it.

Tom graduated from NLR High School, Vanderbilt, the Wharton School and was a CFA.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 19 at Fellowship Bible Church, 1401 Kirk Rd. Visitation from noon-1:30 p.m., funeral service at 2:00 p.m. The funeral will be streamed live online at the following link; http://fbcar.org/chapel.

The great question everyone should ask is “if everyone was like me in ‘integrity of character’ what would the world be like”???

It would not be recognizable…🌈☀️🌴

Beautiful service--Beautiful life lived well==Our hearts go out to all of you. May the Grace and Compassion of our Christ hold you up daily in the days ahead. I keep thinking I should call my parents and let them know, but they have gone before him, and they are all present in the throne room of our God, who has sent Christ to us. May those of us, who are left to carry on, walk as well as your Tom Hill.

Tom and I sat next to each other at Merrill Lynch for many years and even shared support staff. This was during my twenties and Tom used to say he went deaf in the ear facing me which was his bodies way to protect him from me. Tom was a hard worker and always an excellent example of doing the right thing all the time! Tom & I only had girls which all have grow up to be Godly ladies! I learned a lot from Tom which I will try to pass along. Jesus has a GREAT new Angel 😇 on his team!

We sent a response to Tom after his last message to his praying friends but it turned out to be only a few hous before we heard he was delivered to heaven so maybe God will forward it to him there. We trust it will at least comfort you, his family. It was such a privilege to be in Community Group with him and Debbie and to be included in his long journey of tribulation since that seemed to be his lot for Jesus' sake. Now we are praying for you to continue to know God's presence and grace, as we look forward to seeing him again in Heaven. Lovingly, Glenn & Norma

Tom and my father, Richard Diehl, were great friends that met back in 1973 during a campus crusade for Christ event. They remained friends over the years, and Tom flew up to Delaware for my dad's funeral in 2009. He spoke at the funeral, and told some great stories of their times together. He has meant so much to our family, and I personally will remember him as a great man to be admired. When he spoke at my dad's funeral, he mentioned that next time they saw each other, they'd be throwing a Frisbee together in heaven. I like to think they are doing that right now

There are a special few men in my life that have made me a better man because of how he invested in me. Tom is one of those men. His attention to Kingdom building has real eternal value, and I certainly treasure that model in Tom. When I think of Tom, it is hard not to think of his ever present smile. Miss you already, my friend.

From the 80’s Fellowship Single group, to your engagement, wedding, children to Tom being the first person to start my retirement account, to seeing you in the Chapel, my heart loves you both. I was a brand new Christian when I came to Fellowship moving from TN. The spiritual teaching impact Tom made in my life made me the women I am today. Tom was always fun and brought laughter to others. Watching your relationship and the miracles in both your lives have showed many how to walk the Christ driven path. All I can saw is thank you. I’m so saddened for your loss, but so glad that you have such great life memories to comfort your family.I look forward to him on the other side of Heaven someday. Deepest Sympathy.

Tom shared his knowledge of the Scriptures with the men in Precepts Bible study. His journey through health challenges proved to be a constant inspiration to all. Tom’s kind and gentle manner, mixed with courage, manifested the life if Jesus Christ in a remarkable way. He showed us all how to live the Christ-life, and more so, how to anticipate meeting Him face to face.

Please accept my deepest condolences. Tom spent many hours mentoring me when I was just starting out. His patience, good humor and wisdom, alloyed with an unwavering commitment to Jesus suffused our meetings together. He was quite simply one of the finest men I’ve ever had the privilege to know. He will be missed.

We met Tom and Debbie through our daughters' participation in YMCA Indian Princesses. What a great experience and introduction to Tom's heart for his daughters, wife and Lord. We were humbled by their prayers and support during our time in Niger. Now Tom sees his Savior face-to-face and is added to that great cloud of witnesses. May all of his family and friends feel God's comfort and peace during this time of grief.

I was privileged to have known Tom. Many knew him as a man who professed his love for the Lord and his family. My fondest memories are of his playfulness with the girls when they were young and his quick wit and keen sense of humor. You will be sorely missed.

We so enjoy living on the same street as the Hill gang and will sorely miss Tom. It has been such a joy to watch he and Debbie raise those beautiful, kind and giving girls. Our highlight at Christmas is always the treat left on our porch by this precious family. This last year Tom has been an inspiration to us all and we will miss his smiling face. We are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Although we spoke only a few times, the advice, insights and coaching Tom shared with me had a significant impact on my life at a critical juncture. What a blessing Tom must have been to those who were privileged enough to be closer in his circle of friends and family. May his family and friends be at peace in the knowledge Tom is with his Savior and may his memory continue to be a blessing to all.

Tom and I grew up two houses from each other. His brother and sisters and parents were not only neighbors, but were part of my church life. He was my broker (only in the sense I had my pittance with him), my friend, and my journeyman with Christ. All of this, and the chance to start a conversation months after the last one as if it was still one conversation, epitomized how special he was to so many. To say I will miss him is it inadequate. To say I rejoice in his ability to walk with Christ, his parents, and Holly, is a gross understatement. Although the Scripture is a letter from Paul, it might as well be about Tom from all of his friends — “Well done, O good and faithful servant.” Godspeed, to his family and friends .
