Robert Charles Menking JrI am a Veteran.

of Little Rock, AR

October 24, 1943 - November 7, 2022

Robert C. Menking Jr., 79, of Little Rock, AR was peacefully called home in faith and glory on Monday, November 7, 2022. Bob was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on October 24, 1943 to Robert Menking and Edith Schonert Menking. He was preceded in death by both parents and cherished wife, Mary A. Menking.

Bob is survived by his devoted and adoring daughter, Christine Gronwald (Jason) of Little Rock and granddaughters, Zoe and Gigi; brother, Rodger Menking (Katherine Novak) and sister, Barbara Scharman (Clifford); nieces Alison Scharman (Arjun Goel) and Mary Margret Wingfield. He will be deeply missed by his beloved Cody who gave him such joy every day.

Son of a Lt. Colonel in the Army, Bob traveled all over the world with his family acquiring exposure to many cultures.

Bob graduated from Salinas High School in California in 1961. He completed several years of college education in business and marketing at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He went on to earn his insurance license where he spent the entirety of his successful career as a business development and insurance executive.

Serving the U.S. Army in both the National Guard and the Reserves for many years, Bob earned his commission as an officer in 1967.

Bob was talented in anything he attempted. He played the piano and guitar by ear, easily picking up any song he heard. He had a love of all music and spoke fluent German. He had a passion for knowledge with an emphasis on U.S. military history. His greatest joy was spending time with and caring for his cherished wife and daughter. Animals and children gave him such happiness as he had a heart full of so much love.

Bob was a strong Christian raised and baptized as a Lutheran and converted to Methodist with his wife, Mary. He walked the path of a Christian each day in kindness and love. His laugh was contagious with an endearing sense of humor and he delighted in telling stories.

Visitation will be Friday, November 18th at Chenal-Roller Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Pkwy, Little Rock, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, November 19th at 11:30 a.m. at Chenal-Roller Funeral Home with graveside services to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 7401 Hwy. 5, Alexander.

May thoughts and prayers of so many comfort you in this season of mourning. I find peace in picturing the reunion that happened in heaven when your mom saw your dad again!
