of Leslie, AR
January 19, 1938 - September 23, 2022
Aaron Bailey Wilson, age 84, of Wiley's Cove, Arkansas passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 23rd, 2022. He was born in Dickinson, Texas on January 19th, 1938 to Albert Bailey Wilson and Bertie Mae Keyes Wilson.
Aaron attended schools in several East Texas and Gulf Coast towns. As an 8th grader, he met Sally Seeger after her family had moved to Conroe and they became sweethearts. He graduated from Conroe High School in Conroe, TX in 1956. After high school, Aaron earned a choir scholarship to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, but transferred to Blinn College in Brenham, TX and played football. In the fall of 1958, Aaron's dad passed away and he had to leave college to take his father's job at The Superior Oil Company. He was still Sally's sweetheart, so they married in 1960 and lived in Conroe. Their 2 children were born there. Aaron was active in an antique car club, church choir and loved to play golf and hunt. In 1975, Aaron's job with Superior moved the family to Midland, TX. Sally and Aaron were active in the local Methodist church, singing in the choir and leading youth group. In 1978, Aaron was transferred to Cortez, CO. He enjoyed all the outdoor activities with his family including deer hunting and snow skiing. Once again, he was active in the church choir and enjoyed watching his children's sports. In 1981, he was transferred back to Texas and he and Sally lived in Columbus, TX until they retired and moved to Leslie in 1993. He was in the church choir and an active member of the local Gideon's group, Farm Bureau and Rotary Club. Even though Aaron was a Texan by birth, he was loved and adored by the people of Leslie and he loved them back.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sally Seeger Wilson of the home; his son, Aaron Wilson and wife, Leila of Lubbock, TX; daughter, Susan Pendleton and husband, Jay of Little Rock; grandchildren, Rochelle Williams of Austin, TX, Zach Esterly and wife, Ami of Midland, TX, Dru Altheide and husband, Stefan of Benbrook, TX and Will Pendleton and wife, Haley of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Lane Esterly, Ethan Williams, Adilee Williams, Rose Altheide, Frankie Pendleton, August Altheide and Callaway Pendleton.
Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Bertie Wilson and siblings, Bruce Wilson, Bob Wilson and JoAnn Wilson Miller.
Funeral services for Aaron will be 11:00 AM Thursday, September 29th, 2022 at Leslie United Methodist Church in Leslie, Arkansas with Bro. Tom Mullins officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM preceding the service. Burial will be in Leslie Cemetery. Bearers will be Wiley Seeger, Sam Seeger, Jay Porter, Zach Esterly, Will Pendleton and Kyle Pack. Honorary bearers will be the men of Leslie-Marshall United Methodist Church, members of the local Rotary Club, Gideon's and Farm Bureau, Aarons hunting buddies and his oil field friends. At the family's request, donations may be made to the Gideon's or Leslie United Methodist Church.
Good morning Sally
A few years ago my wife and I by chance stopped at Wiley Cove , we knocked on the door , You graciously greeted us and I proceeded to tell you my childhood memories of your family and my parents, Ed and Ruth Garsrtang kehde . Again you graciously fed us dinner , provided a wonderful bed and in the morning a delicious breakfast. My wife and regret that we didn’t offer you and Aaron the same hospitality in Sedalia mo although your grandmother and mother visited on a couple of occasions. We did have the opportunity to visit the great insurance/bank building in St. Louis that was product of your grandfather . I often think about the short visit that my wife and I had with you and Aaron.
Best day ever
John kehde
