Wilma "Billie" Lee Clinkingbeard

of Calico Rock, AR

September 13, 1927 - September 16, 2022

Wilma Lee (Billie) Hart Clinkingbeard went to her heavenly home on September 16, 2022. Billie was born September 13, 1927 in Independence Co. to William Daniel Hart and Cannie Elizabeth Byler Hart. On April 3, 1948, Billie married James Madison (Jim) Clinkingbeard at the Baptist parsonage on College Street in Mountain Home.
For 66 years Billie and Jim owned and operated Main Street Retail Merchandising in Calico Rock, establishing a shoe store, clothing store and an ice cream parlor, which also incorporated a restaurant. Many will remember these establishments with the original store being called "Family Shoes" and with the addition of clothing, "Family Shoes and Dry Goods". She and Jim were happily married for 70 years until his death in 2017.
Billie is survived by two sons, Paul (Trish) Clinkingbeard of Mountain Home and Bruce (Pam) Clinkingbeard of Mountain View and five grandchildren, Jody (Amy), James, Casey, Amanda (Aaron) and Amber (Tyler); five great-grandchildren, Colten, Addison, Alex, Audric and Trey and by her special fur-son, Banjo. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and by a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; her parents and her sisters, Ruby Hart Davis and Ruth Annabelle Hart.
Billie was held in high esteem by her community. She was a good mother and a kind friend, always living out the principles of the Christian life and could say "I have fought the good fight, I have kept the faith, I have finished the course, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness".
Arrangements are under the care of Roller Funeral Home.

Aunt Billie and Uncle Jim were salt of the earth, wonderful people. They worked hard and loved God, family and country. While we are poorer from losing them, we should be inspired by their memories to be better.

My condolences to Paul and Bruce and their families.

I met the Clinkingbeards in 1978 when I moved here from Texas. The Family Shoe store was a godsend for Calico Rock, a place to get good clothes and shoes for your kids without driving out of town.
Billie, Jim and Karen always made you feel special and helped you with your shopping. Little did I know then that my youngest son would marry Amanda and become part of the family.
Christmas was extra special to Billie, a momentous event that the entire family enjoyed!
RIP Billie ♥️

Aunt Billie was a special lady that will always have a special place in my heart. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, but I know there was a big welcome celebration in heaven when she drew her last breath on earth.

I have such fond memories of visiting with Billie and Jim at the store. It didn’t matter how long it had been since I had seen them, they were always so welcoming and inviting. They were wonderful people and definitely pillars of the Calico Rock community. My condolences to all of Billie’s family. Prayers for peace and comfort.

I will always fondly remember Mrs. Clinkingbeard. I loved going into the store over the years. She always sold good brands and had good choices. Several times over the years I would tell her of a child in need of clothes or shoes. I had one boy from Dolph whose house burned the night before. He came to school in slippers because his shoes burned up in the fire. She provided him with good shoes and some clothes. From then on, she offered to help many students in need of shoes or clothing. She never refused.
She also helped me dress my mother when she was placed into an assisted living home. She would tell me when clothes were on sale and help me pick them out. She and Jim were caring, loving people. Her life needs to be celebrated. May God bless her family.

I was saddened to learn about the loss of Billie today. Our families go back a long way
and I have so many good memories of all the times we got together for Christmas
parties, picnics, and various other activities. Billie always loved planning for them.
My Mom, Dixie, considered Billie and Jim family and I'm glad I got to be a part of those
years. She has been an influence on a lot of people and she will be missed.
