Edna Mae Simpson

of Silver Lake, MN

July 15, 1932 - September 5, 2022

Our precious mother, Edna Mae Simpson, departed her loving family on September 5, 2022 at age 90 in Silver Lake, Minnesota. She was comforted by her daughter, Annette and son-in-law, Jay who were at her side. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Mom was born July 15, 1932 in Milton, West Virginia to Ira and Lucy Vititoe during the Great Depression. Although it was a hard time for all, Mom shared many happy childhood memories of life with her brothers and sisters who have all preceded her in death.

She married Clyde Simpson in Kentucky on November 19th, 1948. They later settled in Mountain Home, Arkansas where their first child was born. Their small family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1951 where their family was blessed with two more children. They relocated in Dearborn Heights, Michigan in 1965. There, they were blessed with another child. They had a dream of returning to Mountain Home, Arkansas and their dream came true in 1970. Throughout the 70's, they owned the A&W in Mountain Home. Mom was baptized on August 10th, 1974.

In the mid 70's Mom went to work for the Mountain Home School system as a cook. Lunchtime was the highlight of each day as she got to serve the food and visit with the children.

Due to health reasons in 2020, Mom left Mountain Home and moved in with her daughter, Annette and son-in-law, Jay where she lived for two and a half years.

Mom was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years by 13 years and 1 day on September 4, 2009.

Mom is survived by her children, Ivan (Crystal), Brenda (George), Don (Annie) and Annette (Jay); 14 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to say a final goodbye to Edna at Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home, Arkansas from 4:00-8:00 pm on Friday, September 16th. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 17th at Roller Funeral Home. Burial services will follow at Douglas Cemetery. Please join us for a celebration of life at Cranfield Park an hour after the grave side service.

We were saddened to hear of Aunt Edna's passing. We enjoyed our last visit with her a few a few years before my Mother Doris, Clyde's sister, passed away.
We had the pleasure to spend the night and listen to her reminiscing about meeting Uncle Clyde, their marriage and love for one another.
She was always so very sweet and soft spoken. She made awesome sugar cookies that my parents and my family enjoyed frequently at holidays.
Our prayers and blessings are for all those she left behind.
