Richard George Lawson, 85, of West Helena, Arkansas peacefully passed away on August 28, 2022 at home surrounded by loved ones, after a difficult battle with cancer.

Richard was born October 21, 1936 to George and Dorothy Lawson of Melrose Park, Illinois. After graduating from Proviso West High School in 1954 he began working for Walgreen's Corporation. He also studied briefly at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.

Richard worked at Walgreens for 44 years, eventually becoming the head of the duplicating department.

During a softball game, he met Jacqueline (Jackie) Young of River Grove, Illinois. In November 1963, Richard married Jackie and the two went on to have two children, Kerry and Jeff.

Richard retired from Walgreens in 1998, giving him time to attend the various sporting events and activities of his four grandchildren, including taking many trips to Disneyworld.

Richard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jackie; daughter, Kerry Collins (Mike) of West Helena, Arkansas; son, Jeff (Vanessa) of Schaumburg, Illinois; four grandchildren, Jacob, Alec, Noah and Abby; two brothers, Randy (Kathy) Lawson of Schaumburg, Illinois and David of Washington State.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, George and mother, Dorothy.

The family will hold a memorial service at Jubilee Bible Church in Medinah, Illinois on Saturday, September 10, 2022. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. and the Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m.
