April 22, 1965 - July 20, 2022

Tommy Melton, 57, of Paris, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 in Paris. He was born on April 22, 1965 in Ozark, Arkansas to his parents, Vernon and Rose Edith (Bridges) Murray Melton.

He has been raising cattle for over 35 years, starting with 10 head of cattle and was able to grow his heard to currently over 100 head. In 1998 he purchased a poultry farm, that he ran for over 20 years. After closing his poultry farm in 2019 he went to work for the City of Paris, where he was still currently employed. He loved to hunt on his farm in Paris, where he had taken many different kids out to harvest their first deer. He loved to fish and was always willing to share his catch with his friends and family for a fish fry. Although he loved being outdoors, he was always happiest when he was spending time with his grandchildren, Ryleigh and Jaxon.

He is the former president of the Greasy Valley Water Association and was instrumental in running city water to the Corley Community. He was a former member of the Subiaco Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pairs.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Verna Sue Rice and two brothers, Michael Murray and Bobby Ray Melton.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Keila (Brooks) Melton of Paris; two daughters, Kecia Schluterman and husband, Dustin of Paris and Cortney Rieder and fiance, Parker Whittenton of Paris; one sister, Sandra Rhyne and husband, Frank of Hackett; two brothers, Joe Murray and wife, Vicky of Springdale and Richard Murray of Paris and two grandchildren, Ryleigh Oates of Paris and Jaxon Rieder of Paris.

I will miss "Sunshine" coming in our office. Approximately 15 years, I got to give him a hard time or or vice versa, once a month when he came to sign checks. Tommy was a good one and he loved his family so very much. Prayers for you all during this sudden loss, hang on to the precious memories you have.

Keila and girls this is heartbreaking, I can barely believe it. I have known your family all my life and have many good memories running through my mind,, but mostly I can see Tommy as a boy riding his horse down that old dirt road by Mammaw Claudie’s house, at Corley. God is with you.
