Melissa Kaye Barron

of Higden, AR

February 28, 1974 - June 22, 2022

Melissa Barron, 48, of Higden, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022 in Little Rock. She was born February 28, 1974 to parents Wiley Lee and Susan Elizabeth (Adams) Barron.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Paul and Charlotte Adams; as well as her paternal grandparents, William and Dora Lee Barron.

Melissa is survived by her parents and her sister, Amanda (Barron) Goudeau (Jarrod).

Melissa graduated from Pine Bluff High School and went on to attend UALR and Middle Tennessee State where she achieved her Bachelors Degree. Melissa later went on to attend Dallas Theological Seminary for her Master's Degree. She worked as a missionary in communications, for Frontier Ventures Mission in the Perspectives Department, as an online director. Melissa attended Fellowship Bible Church in Conway, Arkansas and was a teacher for Bible Study Fellowship in Little Rock, as well as Pasadena, California. Melissa also taught English to Chinese children via Zoom. At one point she served as a Congressional intern in Washington, D.C. and Pine Bluff for Congressman Jay Dickie. In her short lifetime Melissa achieved so much, but to her family she was just the witty, independent, determined child they knew and loved. Melissa enjoyed the quiet solitude of the beach in California and enjoyed spending time at Huntington Gardens. Melissa relished in the peace and love of her church. She enjoyed seeing Christian rock artist Toby Mac in concert. While living in Fayetteville, she had season tickets to see the Arkansas Razorback baseball team play. Officer Tommy Norman visited Melissa while in the hospital, which was a highlight for her.

While Melissa lived in and loved California, her heart always belonged with her family and most of all, the state of Arkansas.

Her presence here and in the lives of those she knew and loved will be greatly missed. Her memory, in their hearts, kept and always treasured.

I had the pleasure of working with Melissa in the context of the French translation of the Perspectives course. She would forward inquiries from people who would write in find out about the progress of the project or to offer their help. She also contacted (and sometimes recontacted) living authors to ask them to update their biographies. All those who use the French translation can read about her contributions in the Acknowledgements section: “Melissa Barron a travaillé sans relâche pour répondre aux emails, solliciter des mises à jour des biographies des auteurs et bien plus encore.”

After I received my cancer diagnosis back in March, Melissa reached out to me and we connected a couple of times. I'll forever be grateful for her concern and for the opportunity to briefly connect with her during that time. We miss you, Melissa, and are grateful for you. May God's abiding peace and comfort be multiplied in abundance to her family and friends as they continue to mourn the loss of a truly special woman.

Mr. & Mrs. Barron, we are your part time neighbors in the small green cabin across the road. We were great friends with your beagle Mandy Kay and had the pleasure of meeting Melissa one time when we stopped by to drop off the book a couple of months ago. We are so very sorry for your tremendous loss. It’s obvious you all have great faith in our Lord and will see Melissa again. We’ll be praying for you all during this difficult time.

I had the privilege of serving with Melissa when she worked for the FamilyLife ministry as administrative assistant for the HomeBuilders team. She was a tremendous asset to the cause, and it was a joy to serve with her. Her "can do" attitude, servant heart, loving personality, and sincere faith stand out to me. My wife, Nancy, and I have stayed in contact with her and grieve the loss of our friend. We're praying for the family in this sad, hard time. Kim Nelson

To Melissa's family - praying for peace and comfort for in the loss of this extraordinary young lady. I worked with Melissa at FamilyLife. Her quick wit and humor, her smile and love for her Savior are just a few of the things I admire about her. And her adventurous, fearless spirit. I know she has been a blessing to so many.

Melissa,

Steve and I Love and Miss you dear friend! I know you are have the biggest smile on your face right now because you are with your Everlasting Love, Jesus. I am so selfish because I am not ready for you to be gone from us. Our hearts are filled with overwhelming sorrow but also with JOY because we know this is temporary and we will meet again and be with you in Paradise. You fill our hearts with laughter and joy when we remember our precious times together. Until we meet again my Dear Friend.
