Billy L Harding, age 84, was born in Roland, Arkansas on October 25, 1937. Born to Rube Harding and Esther Harding (Clifton).
Proceeded in death by his parents, Rube and Esther Harding; daughter, Donna Harding Miller; brothers, John (Betty) and Ray Harding and sisters, Evelyn Taylor and Ann King.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Harding (Davidson) of Roland; Children, Kim (Steve) Spangler of Conway and Jason Harding of Roland.
Brother, Wilbur Harding of Roland; Sister-in-laws, Norma Harding of Little Rock and Barbara Butler of Roland.
Grandchildren, Kandi (Michael) Manes, Savannah (William) Morgan, Blakelea (Stephen) Leach, Chloe Harding, Josh (Tiffany) Spangler, Trey (Hannah) Miller and Samantha (Blake) McFadden. Twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Billy was a 1955 Graduate of Joe T. Robinson High School. From there he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was assigned to the 96th Supply Squadron. While in the Air Force, he was the pitcher for the Air Force Baseball Team. He traveled worldwide playing ball. Once out of the Air Force, he enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and in 1973, he was the MVP of the Arkansas State Tournament. He retired from Harvest Foods, and after retirement, he enjoyed hunting, taking care of Rainey Cemetery and spending time with family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the "Light of his Life".
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 27, 2022, Monnie Springs Assembly of God Church, 18807 Ross Hollow Road, Roland, Arkansas. Visitation 4:00 6:00 P.M., Sunday at Roller Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas (501-224-8300). Interment will be at Rainey Cemetery, Roland, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rainey Cemetery, Roland, Arkansas.

Someone else mentioned Billy’s distinctive voice. I remember that voice and that crooked smile. And he was always smiling. He was more like an uncle than a cousin, as were his brothers and sisters. Peggy and family, once again this landscape that we call home is changing. Roland is losing its longtime residents and Billy was certainly one of them. I know he’s been somewhere between this world and home for a while, but this time he’s stepped over and you have seen him go and are left with a lifetime of memories just between the two of you. Life is but a fleeting moment between heaven and earth and we are all in line. My prayers are with you in the coming days and months.

Uncle Bill was a great man, husband, father, grandfather and uncle. I’ve have to say, he was the ‘calm one’ of the Harding boys. He loved being with family. He loved good food, I don’t know how many trips to eat catfish he and Donna would make a month. He loved sweets, and I can still see him at Grandma Esther’s table eating her delicious desserts.
We all know he loved fast pitch softball and made himself famous doing it. He also loved playing baseball with Daddy, Uncle Wilburn and Uncle Ray. Those Harding boys were quite a crew!! Many of us kids spent our weekends at a ballpark somewhere.
I remember every Easter whether at Grandma and Grandpa Harding’s or my Mom’s house we always had a softball game after hunting eggs. The softball games were so much fun because we were all competitive; it was in our blood.
Uncle Bill, Daddy and I shared a birthday month and I always thought it was special when all the family came and we got to celebrate together. I loved Uncle Bill’s smile and laugh. He was kind to everyone unless you ‘crossed’ his family.
Now he is in Heaven, celebrating with all of those many loved ones gone before. I’m sure he, Daddy and Uncle Ray are ‘catching up’ and Donna is right there with them trying to referee! 😃
Uncle Bill will be missed so much but we will hang on to the wonderful memories. Even in his sickness, he always said “ I Love You Tooâ€. Rest In Peace Uncle Bill and I Love You Too!!

Peggy and Family, I'll try to make this short, but after knowing Billy all of my life, (81 years), a 'summary' of his life could still be long. All that I can say is 'he was a good man and provider', worked hard, loved baseball, and enjoyed talking about his tour in the Air Force. He did NOT like being in the water nor boating and kept the land yacht in your garage until Jason needed space for his things. As he aged, he loved and enjoyed laughing & talking to most everyone that he met...anywhere. The last and hardest thing he ever did was cope with the Alzheimer's disease and several strokes that destroyed everything about him. "What a warrior and a battle he fought!" May God provide peace and comfort to each of you as you go through the weeks, months, and years without him.

My sympathies go to the family. I remember for many years he cared for the Rainey Cemetery where many of my loved ones and family lie. It was a long time ago when I lived near there, but I remember good people.
