Billie "Bill" Lee Speer

of Harrison, AR

July 28, 1936 - May 27, 2022

Billie Lee ''Bill'' Speer left this earth to meet his Heavenly Father on Friday, May 27, 2022, in Springfield, Missouri. Bill was born July 28, 1936, in Omaha, Arkansas, the son of Roy and Mabel (Whitaker) Speer. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise (Speak) Speer; his parents; his brother, J.T. Speer; one sister, Donna Speer Anderson; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don and Juanita Speak and Phillip and Betty Willoughby, Don Robinson and Bob Henson.

Bill married Helen Speak on August 19, 1957. They enjoyed over 60 years of life together. They cherished both their sons and their families. Bill enjoyed a lifetime of making memories during his 40-year career as a superintendent at Journagan Construction, as well as hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. After retirement from Journagan Construction, Bill opened his own business, Bill's RV Sales. His favorite part of the business was seeing people leave with big smiles on their faces and campers behind them.

Bill is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Terri (Hall) Speer of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Greg and Diane (Currell) Speer of Compton, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Diego Chavez and Hillary (Speer) Chavez of Allen, Texas, Dezerra Gunter of Houston, Texas and Jessica Gunter of Compton, Arkansas. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews that he loved very much.

A special thank you to his friend and faithful employee, Guy Lockridge, for always being a great friend to Bill and his family.

The funeral service was Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Floyd and Rev. Byron Cothran officiating.

Visitation was one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Burial was in the Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ed Robinson, Jeff Robinson, Tyler Robinson, Brandon Robinson, Diego Chavez, Todd Bishop, Logan Jackson, and Guy Lockridge.

The honorary pallbearer was Shannon Payne.

Bill had more giggles in him than anyone else I ever met. He taught me a lot about doing good work and having fun while doing it.

Bill was such a great guy and I never remember being around him that he wasn't smiling or cutting up. My wife and I purchased 2 campers from him over the years and he was always so helpful and friendly whenever we needed help with anything. I stopped by his house now and then to ask a camper related question or get advice from him. I also admired how he loved and cared for Helen every day. He was such a positive person and my life is better by having known him. He was one of the good guys, and will be sorely missed.
