of Bono, AR
January 6, 1925 - May 16, 2022
Ruby (Granny) Whitley Hickman, of Bono, was born as a twin in Black Oak, AR on January 6, 1925. She passed away Monday, May 16, 2022 at her home. Ruby was born and raised as a Christian and you could often find her reading her Bible in her rocking chair any day of the week. She was blessed with two children, Judy Hall and Johnny Pratt. Those two children blessed her with five grandchildren, Angel Hall (Gary) Barker, Selina Hall (Tim) Rowell, Jolina Hall (Eric) Brown, Jonathan Pratt and Callison Pratt; five more great-grandchildren, Brittney Rowell (Tim) McNamee, Logan (Whitney) Hall, Hallyn Rowell, Tanner Rowell and Andrew Brown. Then finally, and perhaps her favorites, her great-great grandchildren, Kaydence Garland, Everleigh Hall and Rylan McNamee. Ruby's family was the joy of her life. She was very proud of them and thought they were all so pretty. She would remind them that 'Pretty is as pretty does, so be ye kind'. Ruby was blessed with many other nieces, nephews, close family and friends. She was proud to be a Mom, an Aunt Ruby and most of all, a Granny, and you couldn't find a better one than her. She was such a sweet blessing to each of us.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Allie Whitley; her husband, Chester Hickman; her siblings, Arthur, Clora, Buster, J.D. and Ruben; and her son-in-law, Floyd Hall. She is sure to be rejoicing in Heaven with each of them today.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Thursday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with Stan Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Logan Hall, Tanner Rowell, Andrew Brown, Tim McNamee, Jonathan Pratt and Kiley Dement.
Visitation will precede the service beginning at 1 pm.
I knew of Ms. Ruby from my childhood friend Brenda Whitley Mitchell, her father Ruben, was Ms. Ruby's twin brother. Even through I never met her personally I feel I know her. The family will miss this great lady as all that still miss her brother Ruben. I have know doubt the two of them will have a lot of catching up to do on the other side.
Sincerely,
Gail Cook Crow.
