Darrell Eugene Mitchell, 82, of Searcy passed away May 10, 2022.
He was born July 18, 1939 in Bradford to Clelan and Grace (Sexton) Mitchell.
Darrell was a Chief Radio Man in the U.S. Navy for 21 years. He enjoyed watching old western movies, singing songs, and watching the San Diego Chargers. He also liked to go fishing, take beautiful drives, and attend Bible study.
Survivors include one daughter, Traci Denny and husband David, of Searcy; one brother, Harold Mitchell and wife, Glenda of Salado; one grandchild, Ryan Allen and wife, Stephanie; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Allen, and his nephews, Lance and Clay Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Susan Mitchell.
Pallbearers are Lance Mitchell, Clay Mitchell, Ryan Allen, David Denny, Shad Pearce, and Harold Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville. A military send off will follow at Egner Cemetery.
Family and friends will have visitation one hour prior to the service.
Traci, you know what Uncle D meant to me & how much I loved him. My thoughts and prayers are with you & family as you are dealing with this. If I were there I would give you that little squeeze that’s special between us. Love you Cuz. Hugs & love to Uncle Harrell, Aunt Glenda too.
My heart is broken but I know Uncle Darrell is with our Lord. He was very special to me.
He was not only my Uncle but my God Father. I have so many memories growing up staying with him,Aunt Sue and Traci during my summers in San Diego. I was blessed to attend his Retirement ceremony with my mom. We were so proud.
Thank you Uncle Darrell for everything you did for me and the great love you had for me and your family. Please give Aunt Sue and Mom a kiss for me in heaven. I’m going to miss you.

Traci we were so surprised to here about Uncle Darrell passing he was a great uncle when ever I’ve thought about him I could always here him talking always such a sweet voice he is our last Uncle and we’ll miss him your all in my prayers
So sorry for the loss of such a wonderful man. He's with your mom now and is at peace. So hard to lose our loved ones. He's visiting with your other dad,R.T., who left us recently. I love you all.
He will be missed here on Earth but oh so welcomed at "home."
