Joseph Birtram Cissell, Jr.

of Lexa, AR

February 24, 1956 - April 13, 2022

Joseph Birtram Cissell Jr, was born February 24,1956 at the U.S Air Force Army Base Hospital in Fort Campbell, Kentucky at 6:55pm. Joe left his earthly vessel on April 13, 2022, at 6:02 a.m. in Southaven, MS surrounded by his children and brother Jonathan.

Joe leaves behind, Pat Cissell, and his 4 children; Rhonda Jo Rone of Gravette, Arkansas, Joni Marie Pollock of Nashville, Tennessee, Joseph (Grace) Cissell of Helena, Arkansas and Joe Tyler of Lexa, Arkansas. He also leaves 6 grandchildren; Jerry Lynn (Kayla) Smith of Arkansas, Christopher Adams and Tripp Burkett of Tennessee, Savanna Joann Rone of Arkansas, Jacie Nicole and Emilie Grace Cissell of Arkansas. Two great-grandchildren, Caitlynn and Bane Smith of Arkansas.

His Mother Lou Olivares. And was proceeded in death by his father/mentor Louis Olivares. He also leaves behind his siblings Denice (Mike) VonKanel, Deberah (Jim) Ward, Tim (Charlotte) Cissell and Jonathan Olivares.

As well as his extended family Joe (Sharon) Cissell, his siblings, Brian (Bridget) Cissell, Benny (Olivia) Cissell, Belinda (Nicholas) Hartsell, Brandon (Kayla) Cissell, Bonitta Milligan, Joanne Hulen and Dan Henry Riggs. He was proceeded in death by his brother James Ronald Cissell. Joe also left behind many many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and God-Children who he loved and thought the world of.

Joe was employed and retired from Hoffinger Industries/Doughboy after 26+ years. After his retirement, Joe continued to do what he loved doing his entire life; fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and his loving companions Haley, Baby Girl and Cujo, his special dog friends that went everywhere with him. He spent most of his time fishing daily, sometimes alone or with his best buddy C.J. He loved taking his dogs on the beautiful curvy drive down to Storm Creek, even if he wasn't fishing. He loved his 4 children the most, but arguably Haley one of his pups, ranked first amongst them all.

Joe was a good-hearted man and would do anything for anyone, and would literally give the shirt off of his back to someone in need, especially his best friend and neighbor Albert. He and Albert shared much more than the same street name for the last 13 years; they shared many memories, front porch laughter, jokes and pranks. Apparently, Haley liked to potty in Alberts yard, but Albert never minded, because he would just shovel it back over to Joes yard and laughed about it. They watched each other's home and their backs. They were much more than neighbors, they were family. Joe loved his best buddy Skeet. He would be excited when Skeet was in town from working on the tow boat, they would do a little work together and laugh. Skeet says from the heart, Joe was the ONLY true friend he's ever had.

Let's talk Coffee! Because that's what Joe conversed over every weekday morning; coffee talk at Lacey's with his friends. A cup or two or even three if the conversation was good. He drank so much coffee, He considered it part of his daily grind. (hahaha)

Joe volunteered 8+ years for the King Biscuit Blues Festival and the Delta Roots Festival since it began in 2019. He also volunteered as a boys baseball coach for many years in Marvell Arkansas as well as at J.R. House in West Helena, AR, where he taught and mentored young men while making a lifetime memories with so many. He also was a Boy Scouts of America Troop Leader for a short time as well. Joe had many talents, WAY beyond his camouflage interior decorating design skills, which could be observed throughout his uniquely designed home; he made beautiful custom knives and recently started a new artistry in creating jewelry. Joe took fashion cues from no one. His signature every day look was of his own; a split between Mossy Oak, Drake and Realtree, with an occasional bandana or cool hat.

He was truly one of a kind, loved by many and will be truly missed in unimaginable ways, including his jokes, of all kinds, from simple to scandalous.

And he would want his kids to know he was "SOOOO GRATEFUL" to have them around. (inside joke between children and dad)

A memorial service for Mr. Joseph Cissell, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 23, 2022 at West Helena Baptist Church in West Helena, Arkansas.

Services are directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870)-572-2571, Relatives and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/westhelena.

Joe was an amazing person and friend. It’s just not the same to not have him wave as he would pass by the house or stop just to ask Bug how school was going. You were Bugs “my Mr. Joe” and I know he will never forget you letting him “help” work on stuff. Joe you always knew how to make someone laugh and you gave the best hugs. To all the family I am so sorry for your loss.
