Billie Jean Thomason

of Harrison, AR

April 15, 1927 - April 10, 2022

Billie Jean (Wray) Thomason, received the ultimate baptism on April 10, 2022, just five days short of her 95th birthday. Billie Jean Thomason was born April 15, 1927, to John and Margie Stockton Wray. She grew up at Krooked Kreek, on the farm with her four siblings, Bige, Lex, Marion, and Rowena. It was with Rowena, one Saturday night on the square, she first laid eyes on her one and only true love, Slick, who leaned up on his pickup truck.

Carlos ''Slick'' Thomason and Billie Jean Wray were married on November 4, 1944. She traveled with Slick to Paris, TX while he served in WWII. After WWII they settled back home in Harrison. In 1947, they had their firstborn, Dean Thomason and Peggy followed nine months later in 1948. Billie worked in retail until she was in her mid-eighties. She made many friends and happy memories, most of which were at the mall in Country Classics and Guys and Dolls.

She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. She loved skiing on the lake, tending her yard, Blue Bell Ice Cream, trips to War Eagle, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Billie also loved sweets. She could bake the best chocolate chip cookies, the most delicious strawberry pie, and her famous peanut brittle. A peanut brittle that was enjoyed by Sarah, Duchess of York, prized by Bill Clinton, and shared by Senator John Paul Hammerschmidt among members of congress.

Billie lost Slick early in life at the age of fifty. She never considered other suitors as she once told her family, ''No one could ever replace his love.'' Their reunion is imagined to be the very sweetest heaven could offer.

Of all the things Billie was in her life, she was the best, Mother, Call Me Bill, Nin, and Great. No one could ever replace her love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her husband, Slick; her daughter, Peggy; and her great-granddaughter, Bailie Seals.

She is survived by her son, Dean Thomason; grandchildren, Carla ''Sam'' Chastain (Steve), Josh Thomason (Amber), Carrie Seals, and Lindsey Thomason; her great-grandchildren, Carlie Seals, Quentin Chastain, Cahl Chastain (Katie), Cade Chastain, Ava Mae, Ruby Wray Thomason, Taylor, Kailey, Ashton, and Carson Dye; her great-great-grandchildren, Emma Shaw and Grayson Breedlove.

Visitation was Thursday, April 14, 2022, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Graveside Service was Friday, April 15, 2022, 10 am at White Church Cemetery with Mike Moore and Rev. Carl McCormick officiating.

Pallbearers were Josh Thomason, Steve Chastain, Quentin Chastain, Cahl Chastain, Cade Chastain, and John Wray Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Church Cemetery at 215 Wray Lane Harrison, AR 72601.

Dean, you may not remember me but I was best friends with Peggy growing up. I have so many good memories of your mother. She was a wonderful lady. Loved her chocolate chip cookies. She even brought some of them to one of our class reunions. She will be greatly missed. My condolences to you and all your family.

RIP Billie Jean. Throughout your life, you brought so much joy and blessing to everyone you knew. You were such an example of the best of humanity, always sharing a kind word, that wonderful smile, and the twinkle in your eye; even during times of times of personal sadness. Go rest high my dear lady. Will be thinking about the family during this most difficult time.
