Cathie Bertina Brown

of Oark, AR

November 14, 1952 - April 7, 2022

Cathie Bertina Brown, 69, passed peacefully on April 7, 2022. Born on November 14, 1952, to Estell and Imogene Arbaugh, she was a youthful, pure and bright spirit, yet fiercely independent. Cathie is widely known and loved in her community for the way she loved and cared for others, becoming a mom to many. Her light shined so bright. She always had a way to make things magical and special. She is "World Famous" for her pies she loved making at the Oark General Store. Cathie was a devoted mom to her children, ever praying for them, and their "biggest fan" for the great belief she had in them.

She loved music, growing flowers, and being in nature, working on her farm feeding cows and fixing fence.

Cathie is survived by her six children, Lisa Vanderford, Cheryl Langdon, Jacinda Cook, Ben Cook, Cammie Johnson, and Kelsey Brown; and numerous grand- and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father, Estell Arbaugh, her mother, Imogene Arbaugh, and her brother, Larry Arbaugh.

An open visitation will be 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 14, at Oark Cemetery.

Cathy was such a wonderful person.. when I moved up to Oark with my 3 kids. she took me and my three children under her wing.. such a beautiful gentle soal and so protective of those she loved. And the best cook ever... the only time I ever liked a dish made from squirrel was at her house. she swissed it.. I have not seen my friend for years. and I have sure missed her. Prayers for the whole family...

So sorry for your families loss. Used to live in Southern Missouri and the cafe was a main stopping point on motorcycle rides. Always looked forward to the smiling face. Pies were awesome! She will be missed.

My wife and I didn’t know Cathie personally, but we did know her pies!
We visited Arkansas in 2017, and of course, we had to visit the world famous Oark General Store.
We weren’t disappointed, not only because of her pies, but of the friendliness shown by everyone there.

Our deepest, and most sincere condolences to Cathie’s family, friends, and coworkers. She will be greatly missed by many.

To the family of Cathie Brown: PLEASE know that a whole bunch of motorcyclists out there wish you comfort in your sorrow. We came from all over to Oark just to have a nice slice of pie during a fun day of riding. Knowing that the person that worked, baked and rewarded us with pie has come to an end on this earth makes us all very sad. Not for us, but for you. As good as she was at baking pies she had to have been a special person to have been around.

Condolences from a stranger - but with love for your whole family,

I am glad to have known her. I watched her raise her children;especially her girls. HER pies. Seldom do local pies have a brand name; Cathie Brown pies would get attention every time. What a legacy.
My heart goes out to her family and closest of friends.

My heart breaks for her children. Loved my cousin Cathy. We shared many memories and visits. It was always so much fun going to spend time with her play on the swinging bridge and swimming in the creek. Such a precious angel. May god give peace and comfort to her family.
