Carolyn Sue Jones Edwards

of Batesville, AR

November 27, 1943 - March 25, 2022

Carolyn Sue Jones Edwards, 78, of Batesville, Arkansas, died peacefully in her sleep on March 25, 2022. She was surrounded by family and friends.

Carolyn was born in Oil Trough, Arkansas, in 1943. She was a star athlete at Oil Trough High School and attended Ouachita Baptist University. She enjoyed a 20+ year career at the Arkansas Gazette before moving on to finish her career at RGA. At both of her ''work'' homes, she was blessed to have a large network of close friends and colleagues.

An avid crafter and gardener, Carolyn enjoyed creating beautiful gifts for family and friends when she wasn't working on her garden and flowers. Nothing made her happier than digging in the dirt and watching beautiful flowers bloom. She also loved to travel and set off on many an adventure with her beloved sister, Sue. In their ''Grannies on the Go'' shirts they were quite the pair.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn Jones; father, Walter E. Jones; and brothers Tommy Jones and Eddie Jones. She is survived by daughters Andrea Edwards of Little Rock, AR; Amanda Edwards of Collinsville, IL; grandchildren Matthew Perry and Olivia Perry; future granddaughter Lily Fitzgibbon; sisters-in-law Sue Jones and Kay Jones; nephews; a niece; and the But Sisters, a group of friends she had for more than 50 years.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 2, at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville. Visitation will be Friday, April 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Roller Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville. Donations may be made to the Macedonia Museum of Middle East Antiquities at 2645 White Drive, Batesville, Arkansas 72501.

I knew Carolyn many years ago when her daughter Amanda and my daughter Rhonda were best friends. They went to school together and we lived across the street from her and her girls. We had such fun times together. The whole neighbor hood loved her and her family . I have missed her greatly and will remember her kindly. God bless her and her family. She will be missed by all that knew her. Carolyn and John Beaty.

Carolyn took me under her wings while she was at RGA. She always was kind and a great teacher. She always had time for me, or so it seemed and I appreciated that so much. Prayers for her family and friends.

I worked with Carolyn at The Arkansas Gazette for 18 years. We both worked in advertising. We floated the Buffalo River a few times with all our friends and she always was a making you happy and have laughter in your heart. Heaven received a special Angel. Prayers for her family
