Fern Irene Tinkle

of Mountain View, AR

March 11, 1935 - February 22, 2022

Fern Irene Lancaster Tinkle, 86, was born March 11, 1935 in Fifty Six, Arkansas to Luther and Julia (Coyle) Lancaster. She departed this life on February 22, 2022 in her home surrounded by family.

She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years; Jim Tinkle, her parents; Luther and Julia Lancaster, brothers; Olen Lancaster, Carl Lancaster, sisters; Verlie Shipman and Nona Sherer.

Fern retired from Stone County Medical Center as a bookkeeper. She was also a grocery clerk at Nu-Way, Piggly Wiggly, and in Palm Springs, California where she would check out her favorite customers, Fess Parker and Yul Brynner. Her and Jim owned and operated Blue Sky Store and RV Park for many years. She was her husband's favorite helper and biggest supporter in caring for their cattle, hogs, chicken house and gardens. In her spare time she enjoyed canning, cooking, and baking especially with and for her family. While working and farming, she was an Avon representative for many years which allowed her to meet new people and make many new friends. She achieved the President's Circle before she retired. She loved to sing hymns and lead song service for many years. Her husband always said if she was singing or humming, she was happy, and most usually you could hear her doing one of the two while helping around the farm and house. One of her favorite pastimes was watching birds, especially humming birds. She knew the types of the birds that she fed all year round and even specific birds that frequented her feeding containers. Fern was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Eastern Star.

She took great pride in her grandkids and great-grandkids, from watching them grow to watching them participate and excel in various sports and activities. She enjoyed watching her grandson Jace preach.

Dearest Family,

I loved seeing Ms Fern. She was such a pleasant person to be around. I grew up at Fifty Six so she knew me all my life. She and Jim were always happy when you met them.
She will be missed but not forgotten.

Our prayers are with you during this sad time. May you let the Lord carry you and give you peace and healing.

Cindy and family I was so sorry to hear about your mom. She was a wonderful Christian woman, and will be missed by all who knew her. When I had Heater and Nathaniel in school, she was always willing to help in any way she could. Please know that your family is in our prayers and thoughts. God bless you all.

Our sympathy to the family. We had the pleasure to meet Fern before the pandemic. She generously spent two afternoons with us, sharing family history. And we felt her love of family as she also did a little bragging about her children, grand children, and great- grand children. A quote from her will appear in the book I am writing about her Teague ancestors.
Our prayers are with you.

My prayers go out to her family and I know that God can put peace in your hearts as you need comfort. I had forgot that she was a sister to Verlie Shipman. Some fine ladies who I enjoyed getting acquainted with.
