She was such a wonderful lady. I didn’t really get to know her good until I started subbing for the school but when I did I would go and eat lunch with her and Mrs.Mary Jane I’m the office on my lunch break every day I subbed. We would usually share each other’s food and talk about our day together. I will miss those times with her. She was a very nice lady and she would tell so many stories and laugh with me and mrs. Mary Jane in the back little kitchen in there office. She will be greatly missed. RIP mrs. Dana

I remember when I transferred to Greenbrier and was a new kid in school back in the 70’s. Dana was in my class and we played basketball together and even rode the same school bus. Although she was a part of “the cool kids”, she made it a point to be kind to me, an awkward “not so cool” new kid in town. I never forgot this! Her personality was huge. You couldn’t help but be entertained by and love everything about her.

Dear Family,
Our hearts are heavy and no words can say enough about my sweet cousin and how many lives she touched!
I sat down with Deb and told her all the Garrett get togethers and how hard we would all play, but the best thing for all us kids was watching to see Papaw Garrett getting ready to light his pipe....this was a big deal because one of us kids would be selected to light it for him! But the best old memory I have is when Dana was chosen to be the Fall Festival Queen of our class! She ask me to be her king...can I tell you that was really something...the prettiest girl in the entire class asking me to be her king! I was in hog heaven...short lived when the teacher came over and scolded us and said "there will be no showing out, no silliness and you both will behave and walk right!"
Well I understood that I had the best cousin and prettiest girl in the class that wanted me to be the King and walk her out! And may I add I looked pretty good standing next to her that night!
Just look at the outpouring of people signing this condolence page...she did not only live life she touched lives, so many lives!
Family we will all miss her and Deb and I will continue to lift you all in prayer! He is the one where our help comes from...and Dana is there with Jesus and all those we love that have passed! We have the confidence to know we will see her again one glorious day!
Family you have wonderful memories of your daughter, wife, mama and grandmother...share them often, laugh, cry and be thankful knowing we will be with her again!
We will see you again Dana in that sweet Beulah Land and what a family reunion that will be!
God bless you all, we love you!
Hal, Jr. & Deb Garrett ❤

On a personal note (that I just found out recently), her opinion of me and my family helped to complete the journey that brought us our adopted daughters.
