Jean Hall Redwine

of Little Rock, AR

September 21, 1923 - January 31, 2022

Wanda Jean Hall Redwine, of Little Rock, died on January 31, 2022, at age 98. She lived her life to love and nurture others, especially children. Born September 21, 1923, in Ash Flat, Arkansas, to William McKinley (Mack) and Minnie Kemper Hall, Jean was the baby of three. Her brother, Austin Alexander, was two years old when Jean was born and her sister, Venita Aubrey, was nearly four. They grew up together with their cousins in Fulton County, Arkansas.

Jean married Harry R. Redwine in 1948, and they made their home in Little Rock. They were members of Sixth & Izard Church of Christ. They had one daughter, Kimberly Jean (Kim).

Jean exuded warmth and was known for her compassionate spirit, subtle and mischievous wit, and her open and giving heart. She loved children and her life's work was centered around them. She never missed an opportunity to volunteer to help with school and church activities for young people. She taught pre-school at Sixth & Izard Day Care and, later, worked in the library of several elementary schools. Those who knew and loved her in her later years knew her simply as Mama Jeana.

When her grandchildren, Charles Ronald (Chad) and Chelsea Jean, were born, Jean retired from the Little Rock School District to take care of them while their parents were at work. When Chelsea's daughter, River Jean, was born, Jean moved in with the parents to ''nanny'' her first great-grandchild. At age 94, Jean had a stroke, which confined her to a wheelchair, but she managed to continue to engage with her family, including her newest great-grandchildren, Cruze Allen and Elizabeth Jean.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, and brother. Survivors include her daughter, two grandchildren and their spouses, three great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Pinecrest Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Garden Room at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.

Dear Kim, Your mother was always so kind, sweet and complimentary. We often enjoyed going to restaurants with your folks for good food and wonderful conversation. Remember Jean as one who seldom missed a service at Sixth & Izard. We send our love.

Kim,
So many fun and fond memories of Miss Jean. She was a quiet and subtle spirit who led by example and worked in the background. One might have thought that her small stature and quiet spirit led her to be discounted. But she was a POWERHOUSE. She was a wise, generous, and capable woman of God. My love to you and the rest of the family.

Kim
Thinking of you and your family, and sending my love and condolences. Miss Jean may have had only one daughter, but she was a powerful and positive influence in the lives of many young girls. Our trips to Lake Ouachita will always be some of my fondest memories.

Dear Kim and family,
I know I can speak for all of your friends who were privileged to grow up around Mrs. Redwine when I say we were so blessed to know her. She was a Proverbs 31 woman, such a sweet, wonderful Christian lady. Prayers for the peace and comfort only He can give in the days and weeks ahead. Much love, Risa and Gaylon

I will forever miss Mama Jeana in this family. However, she will never be forgotten, nor will the memories we shared together as family.
You will remain in my heart always as one of the most remarkable woman I have had the opportunity to know and love. Thank you for loving me. Mama Susie

Kim, in almost every memory I have of your sweet mom, she has a smile on her beautiful face. Miss Jean was a one-of-a-kind lady who loved the Lord and her family with all her heart. What a blessing and a role model she was to so many. Miss Jean was the Proverbs 31 woman in my eyes: "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she give instruction with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness." What a glorious reward must be hers in heaven.
May God hold you in his arms as you move forward during this difficult time. My heart, prayers and thoughts are with you. Much love, Sandra
