Billie Ruth Corley

of Gorman, TX

April 24, 1926 - January 25, 2022

How beautiful Heaven must be as our beloved Mother, Billie Ruth Corley will see now that she has joined our Father and her Heavenly Father. She passed from this earth January 25, 2022 in Temple, Texas.
She was a loving example of what a Christian woman should be and left a legacy for us to follow. She was a member of the Church of Christ from an early age until her death at 95 years. Her life started in Memphis, Texas, and was the youngest of 9 children. She lived for a short time in Eastland, Texas and later moved to Lamesa, Texas.
She met John Corley, Jr. in Lamesa and they were married on September 22, 1945. They enjoyed a loving marriage for 50 years before his death in 1995. They had a daughter, Jonnie Ruth, in Lamesa and moved to Hobbs, New Mexico where a son, John, was born to them and they spent many more years in Hobbs raising a family.
She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Lea General Hospital and worshiped and enjoyed many activities at the Taylor Street Church of Christ while there. They had an opportunity to become co-owners of Pioneer Whetstone Company in Hot Springs, Arkansas and moved there. She worked alongside our Dad in their whetstone business for many years.
After his death she moved to Gorman, Texas and lived next door to her daughter Jonnie Ruth and husband, Mike.
No matter what came up in life she was always there to support and help her family.
She had a fun-loving nature and enjoyed life. She went on many arrowhead hunts with our Dad and camping trips to the Gila Wilderness. In her later years she enjoyed road trips to Fredericksburg with family. She was a talented painter, made quilts and afghans for family and loved to play Yahtzee, card games and 42.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Jonnie Ruth Jones and husband
Mike, and her son, John Aaron Corley, III and wife Jean. Her grandsons, Michael, Lance, Matt and wife Jennifer, and granddaughters, Christie Johnson and husband Ben, April Jones and husband Jacob, Robin Humes and husband Chris. And all of her wonderful great grandchildren and great great grandchildren which she dearly loved.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Roller Alcoa Funeral Home in Benton, Arkansas. Graveside services will be held at Morning Star Cemetery in Hot Springs, Arkansas Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 1:00 PM.

Aunt Billie... Please know that you'll forever be in my heart.
You and Uncle Johnny can now fly high together, forever. Two of the best souls that I've ever known.
...Until we meet again - fair skies and tailwinds Sweet Lady.
