John Mason Singleton, Sr.

of Little Rock, AR

April 5, 1950 - January 25, 2022

John Mason Singleton, Sr. ''Johnny'', 71, of Little Rock passed away on January 25, 2022, at UAMS in Little Rock; he was born April 5, 1950, in Watson, AR; he was the son of Otis and Ann Laura Williams Singleton. John spent his childhood working in the cotton fields in Watson, AR with his family. He loved drinking the occasional POP Kola. At age 14, he moved to Little Rock. Since 1967, you would not find him without his wife Sherry whom he adored. For her birthday, John purchased Sherry the plot of land they used to park and go on ''dates''. He built her a house on that land with his own two hands and the help of his friends and family. John was a retired mechanic at Fed-Ex and all-around handy man. He loved being at the lake either fishing, camping, or water-skiing, going to the deer woods, hunting (including Christmas trees), and spending time with his family and friends. In his younger years, both he and Sherry could be found racing at I-30 Speedway. He and Sherry worked alternate shifts to raise two children. They both worked to make every moment special for their children such as buying a much-wanted horse for their daughter and rooting for their son as he won the Golden Gloves in boxing. John started skydiving in his 30s until he broke his leg, and Sherry said, ''no more''. After Sherry's death he remained close to all her siblings and could always be found tinkering in someone's garage including his own prized shop. He loved more than anything to spoil his grandchildren and make sure they knew never to leave the house without cash in their wallets and the oil checked. He talked to his kids almost every day. He had a standing Sunday brunch date at the Waffle House with his daughter Christy, her wife Destiny, and the occasional grandchild. He was ''Uncle Johnny'' to all even ones he is not related to.

Although he has been retired for a few years, he just couldn't sit still for very long. He worked part-time at O'Riley's Auto Parts. He was always looking for a new project with Eddie Lynn and Johnny Vaughn breaking too many tractors. He could also be found fixing cars for the kids and grandchildren, playing dominos with friends, or solving the world's problems with DeeDee and Eddie Lynn at the kitchen table.

Preceded in death by wife, Sherry Ann Anderson Singleton, his parents, siblings Clinton, Jerry, Frances, Sue, and Linda. Survivors include sister Marsha Singleton, 2 children, son John ''Jay'' Mason Singleton, Jr. and wife Shawna; and daughter Crystal ''Christy'' Ann Singleton and wife Destiny, of Little Rock; grandchildren Auna Chea Singleton, Alissa Nichols, Mason and Madison Garcia, and D.J. Tyler; great grandchildren Colten Garcia-Goode and Cody Goode. He had too many nephews and nieces to list, however, DeDe (Melissa Bridgeman) and Eddie Lynn Bowie doubled as best buddies.

Services held at 11 am on Saturday, January 29, 2022, with Visitation from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, January 28, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Pkwy, Little Rock, AR 72211. Gathering after at Johnny's house at 1pm, Saturday. He will be cremated and laid to rest in a urn next to his beloved wife Sherry.

Uncle Johnny knew how to throw down on some taters & told stories like no other. Truly a selfless man with a giant heart of gold.
I’ll miss stories about the ‘creations’ in that shop, Papaws farm game helper & of course ‘Sugar what you need I’m sure I can help’! He’s missed so much already by so many!
Continued Prayers, my deepest condolences
