Stephen Lee Hughes Jr. "Scooby", of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022 at UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on July 1st, 1970 to Stephen Lee Hughes and Cheryl Lynn McDowell Rowden.

Scooby worked at Ozark Timber for 18 years. Afterwards he worked as a truck driver for 10 years until his retirement. He never met a stranger and was a man of amazing character. He had a servant's heart and enjoyed helping people. Scooby had many close friends that he considered "brothers" and "sisters". He loved his family dearly and his huge heart and personality will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Dolores Rathe Hughes "Dee" of the home; his children, Shelby McClean (Ashley) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Trent Allen Hughes of Marshall, Summer Marie Hughes of Marshall and Holly Lynn House (Jamie) of Marshall; grandchildren, Oakley Madallyn Lemmons of Marshall and Parker Ray Lemmons, also of Marshall; his dad, Stephen Lee Hughes (Janet) of Arlington, TX; his mother, Cheryl Lynn Rowden of Marshall; his brothers, Howard Hughes (Amy) of Cleburne,TX and Alex Hughes (Brittany) of Fort Worth, TX; his mother and father-in-law, Mary and Dallas Rathe of Lamont, IA; brothers-in-law, Todd Rathe (Robin) of Mequon, WI, Tim Rathe (Carol) of Lamont, IA and Ryan Rathe (Clancy) of AZ and all of their families; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family and wonderful friends who will also mourn his passing.

Scooby is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Evelyn McDowell and Eugene and Dorothy Hughes; his step-dad, Gary Lynn Rowden; uncle, David Hughes; and cousins, Shannon Hughes and Jay Allen Atwood.

Memorial services for Scooby will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 12th, 2022 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Jackie Smithson officiating.

So sorry for your loss. I have never met Scooby but my son Ryan Horton said he was one of his best friends. Ryan describes Scooby as a great friend with a big heart and if you was lucky enough to be his friend, you have a brother. Someone who cares about you like you are family. Sounds like everyone lost a amazing man.
