John Joseph Magee was born in Bangor, Maine, on June 25, 1931, to John Francis Magee and Julia Mae (Williams) Magee. He was raised and lived in Maine until he joined the Air Force.
While at the base in Jacksonville, he met Charline Mitchell. They were married on January 21, 1956, in Little Rock, Arkansas. To this union were born Bruce Lloyd Magee on December 25, 1956, and Jay Allen Magee in 1959-stillborn.
John was in the Air Force for several years and then worked as an airline mechanic for several different airlines for the rest of his working life. They have lived in seven different states, but settled in Mountain Home, Arkansas, after his retirement in 1997 and have lived there ever since. They have done lots of volunteer work and have been faithful members of East Side Baptist Church.
