Melanie Cheryl Kelly of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away January 17, 2022, at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on December 28, 1962, to Vernon and Maxine Garner. In 1981 she married her husband, Kyle Kelly, of 40 years.

Melanie spent most of her life being a stay at home mom and wife, a role in which she loved. Later she earned her Master's Degree in teaching. She spent her career teaching at the Bruno Pyatt, Viola, and Mountain Home public schools. Melanie enjoyed family above everything. She also enjoyed camping, fishing and dedicating her life to her faith. She was a member of the College and North Church of Christ.

She is survived by her parents: Vernon and Maxine Garner; husband, Kyle Kelly; two sons: Matthew and Daniel (Tasha) Kelly; grandson, Lane Kelly; brothers: Brian (Tonya) Garner and Brandon (Jennifer) Garner; mother-in-law, Margaret Kelly; sister-in-law, Dianne Kelly, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Her three favorite words were CHERISH, HOPE, and FAITH. Her Faith was a constant that never wavered. Melanie's big heart and kind soul shimmered SO bright and it reflected upon anyone in her presence.

Mrs. Kelly was my favorite teacher when I was in 6th grade. She was the one teacher to truly accept and encourage me to follow the things I loved and be myself even while everyone else bullied me. I wasn't well liked for my clothing choices, but she loved every outfit I wore and every drawing I made. She was like a best friend, so caring and joyful, she made everyday better than how it started. I will always remember her.

Melanie was one of those women that made everyone feel cared for. Ryan’s first year teaching was filled with “Mrs Kelly” stories. She was so good to him. She prayed for us and encouraged us when struggling with infertility. Then she prayed for us even more and was genuinely so happy for us when we were pregnant with our first child. You never forget people like Melanie. You never forget the way she looked at you and made you feel.

My beautiful niece Melanie. Such fond childhood memories of playing together, sleepovers and camping. You were an inspiration and example to everybody that knew you. You embodied a spirit of Love, Faith, Kindness, Charity, Humbleness, Trust, Hope and so much more. A true child of God. You touched so many lives with your goodness and showed such strength and courage through sickness and trials. We were all blessed to have you in our lives. An Angel among us. We will miss you and loved you so much. We can rejoice knowing you are in the presence of God in your heavenly home🙏🏼❤️

I am so saddened upon seeing that Melanie had passed. I worked with her in her first teaching experience at Bruno-Pyatt. We became friends, and I could see she was going to be a wonderful teacher. We recently reconnected via text messages.

I am praying for all of you at this difficult time. I know she left behind beautiful memories for you to cherish.

I am heartbroken over the loss of Melanie. She was such a meek and gentle, loving spirit and had so much faith. Such an example of Godliness that impacted so many of us. I enjoyed our texts over the last few years and have many great memories involving her, growing up. We are praying for Gods peace to surround the family, as only He can fill the void that will be left for us, although Melanie is rejoicing right now. We love you all!
